Big Tables?

I have a problem throwing spins over big tables. I can float some nice 360 grabs over 15-20ft tables but anything larger fucks me up. Ive only tried to do a 360 over a big table once this year (because Ive only had a chance to hit a big table once this year) but I got worked. I set up to throw it, went off the lip and kinda lost sense of where I was, I think I over-rotated because my left side hurts, and I know I spun at least 360. What can I do to land it? Is it the table maybe (there wasnt much of a lip, it was more like a wedge) or is it mental? It was cool as hell to try (it was one of my early season goals to throw a 360 over a big table this year, although it was scary as shit because it was 10degrees, night and the landing was concrete), I will definitely try it again but any tips/advice would be cool.

just huck and hope you land

no just joking dont throw to hard of the top just spin it nice and lighlty so you wont throw yourself of axis. thats about it.

-Cause im a Cracka-

Powder happens once a year here in the midwest, dude I wish we had powder days otherwise I wouldnt be asking this question, lol. If we do ever get powder they groom it over anyways, fuckers!

Instead of throwing your arms, only use your head, it is timing and just looking for the landing. After you land it you will know that it is easier to do tricks on bigger jumps, cause you have more time

i havnt got a chance to hit any big tables really, but i think it has something to do with your speed. The faster you go, the less control you have. I guess you cant do anything about that because if you do go far enough you will snap your legs like twigs. haha

if you are throwing with your arms you will over rotate (and the spin won't look very good). try spinning with your sholders and just start the rotation slowly if it's a really big jump. if you feel you're going to fast than slow your rotation down by adding a cool grab or something (or just do a spread). always remember to keep your sholders and head level and look around for that landing....... if you feel yourself over rotating a hell of a lot than keep going and land 540.

yeah...i totally had the problem too. And by 'had' i mean still. Leaving little ontario jumps and going to banff last year and hitting big tables....was a hard transition to make. I was throwing nines off a 15ft table....yet barely pulling off 360s on 30 footers......the more air i have the more it throws me off balance. I think it just takes practice...it took me a while to get that 3 down without dying.

seriously, what does the lenght of the table matter? say if you going off a 30 footer, you spin your 360 or whatever and make it to the 15 foot spot.. you land on top the top of the table.. im st00pid.

ski really fast to the lip, throw your right arm towards your left hip and huck meat. you should spin 720 and flip once. fuck the 360 now you've learned a misty. hehehe

you dont really have to set your spin on a big table. dont pre spin at all. just relax, set your spin after you jump and look, timing always works out naturally for me

Thanks theres a lot of good advice here! Im pretty sure I was prewinding like I do on smaller tables and I threw my arms too, Ill try and do it with just my head/shoulders, that seams like it will work better. I think Im gonna try and grab mute or something too, hopefully that will keep my body tight and maybe Ill have a little more air sense (last time I was just kinda flailing). I cant really lessen my speed tho, I was hitting the jump with just enough speed to clear the table, and if you land in the middle most of us know that will kill your ankles, skis, legs and will be tough to land. Cant wait to get out and ski again. Thanks again.

my problem was getting hooked up on the lip.. tho i was trying it on tiny jumps

Smoking pot leads to uhh... I forget.

like darryl said, dont use your arms much and dont huck your body like undercarriage said.

big willy.....im from the midwest so i know what you mean about no powder....it's all pretty much mental. When your spinnin 3s off of bigger jumps, you dont want to wind up as much, you want to rotate nice and slow, get the first 180 and then spot your landing and come around for the rest....and dont freak out when you get in the air, thats one of my friends problems. I hope this helps.. goodluck

dude, flipping once and spinning 720 is like a misty 1080......that'd be ridiculous, going from 3's to misty 10's....

dude, one time, I snorted ketchup off of a pizza. that sucked.

Oh yeah, republicans suck, you right winged conservative bastards, have fun burning in hell!!!!
