Big Sky's Park

If it keeps snowing like it has been, it wont even matter how the park is the rest of the year

Good day to do some park shreddin today, not too cold and blue bird. Yeah!

Oh yeah, and most of the gapers are gone!!!

LIES! I saw severall gaggles of gapers cruising over the landings on the upper swify jumpline. Its like they want to get squished.

It wasn't as bad as last weekend at least. And I think there are always people doin those Texas airs, no matter how busy the mountain is. It's such a thrill

Im going to MSU next year and I've been a little spoiled with summit county's selection of jibs. Is it worth it to get the moonlight/big sky pass or should i just get the big sky pass?

moonlights park is better than big skys, but still not nearly on a summit level.

and the combo pass is insane, its over a grand.

besides, i dont understand why anyone would come to montana with park as a priority.

yeah combo pass is nuts. i think big skys park is pretty fun. its got some neat features, and this year is the best its been in a while. its just no summit haha. but its definitely enough to keep you entertained if the snow conditions get rough for a while

No man, I visited back in the fall and I just got surgery on my ACL so I won't be going anywhere for a while

Yeah, whatever I'm looking forward to next year should be a lot of fun do you got a good crew up there?

You probably have. Especially if you take the bus.

But the park is pretty fun right now. The hip is unbelievable and so is the cannon box. I hope they set up the dfdfd like they did at the rail jam though. That would be incredible but I am not going to get my hopes up.

New jump and dfd are dope. The T Rail, not so much. The could really use a flat box. Just like, a 20 foor flat box. It'd be good for learning.

I am a fan of the pyramid rail thing too. Good gaper action on the lift ride.

Rumor has it, Big Sky will be introducing a park pass system next year, so the gaper traffic will be gone.

Good news for everyone who actually hits the jump line.

big sky does not have a gaper at all problem compared to summit county. i've never had a gaper get in my way...

a park pass sounds like a waste of money. they'd be better off spending the money on a park cat, building new features, or paying park crew to work more hours.

Actually, I saw a kid jump onto the landing on the upper jump line just in time to get clipped in the head by a dude pulling like a cork 7. Pretty sure both of them had to be sledded out.

And believe me. A park pass brings the park revenue, so they can do exactly what you just said. It earns the resort money, and keeps the park nice.

During not so busy days, they probably will not have someone checking passes at the top of the park, just some signs, but they will be cruising through and kicking out people who obviously don't belong.

Either this was someone else, or you're exaggerating this story a little bit haha.

I sideswiped a gaper coming around on a cork 7 on the top jump about a month and a half ago but we were both fine. Strange thing is I chilled about 2 minutes before dropping, and had every reason to think it was clear. It still scared the shit out of me though.

The collision I saw happened during spring break (I think?). So probably not you. I think it was middle jump too. The dude throwing the trick might have been ok, maybe hurt a shoulder, but the kid did almost a full flip before he hit the ground. Pretty sure he left his skis on the ground too. It was pretty gnarly looking. But I was on the lift with some students, so we didn't come down through the park to see the aftermath.

Anytime I am cruising through the park and see a family, or just people cutting onto the rollers, I try to least inform them of the danger they are putting themselves and others in. Sometimes they oblige, sometimes they get pissed.

T rail is a dumb feature, itd be way better with either a steeper lip or move it back, but right now you just run into the end... other than that, this year seriously is the best park year big sky has had in a while.

Esp if they throw in that flat down box, and a nice flat box somewhere in swifty. I know we have a bunch more features just sitting there in the park, and rollers to put them in.

Park pass, eh, kind of agree compared to most places itll be unnecessary, but a) perhaps the revenue can go towards more park stuff, and b) im sure its largely due to insurance costs. park passes are gonna become the norm id bet. makes liability even easier since its another waiver to sign.

i dunno man, that stall to rail is one of my favorite features.. you just gotta lean back enough and go fairly slow, i haven't had any troubles with it yet.

but yeah, i agree that the park is real fun right now. got some real nice flow to it and i like that they added a 4th jump in swifty.. would also be nice if a long flatbar was incorporated somewhere... where's that fatty round rail that was set up as a mellow down last year?

so how is the snow looking up there as well as the park? i saw you are supposed to get some snow im riding wed and thursday so i was just wondering.

Due to the fact that Montana weather changes every 10 minutes, And if you go 2 miles in any given direction the weather is almost always different, you can't really be sure...

BUT, the forecast looks like it will be cold, and dumping. So you should be in for a treat. And this has been a good year, so the coverage is good, for Big Sky at least.

wish theyd throw the flat down box back in somewhere, any one of those new rollers in swifty would be great.

i have heard tell that big sky is going to be running swifty and ramcharger into may this year? anyone have any solid info on these whisperings?

lord knows they have the snow for it. no idea if its true. and ultimately irrelevant since i wont be here.

not too sure. i feel like someone just mentioned it to me in passing. damn i got pretty stoked to hear that was potentially happening

No, official last day is the 24th? (A sunday). Its the last day I am on schedule.

On a side note, I heard a tentative no, but does anybody know if Moonlight is opening the north summit this weekend?

na, no snow over there for awhile. got super wind blown. They wont be running lone tree for the extended season

Actually it was just announced to us today that swifty will be running all of may buuuuut it's only for the people that are attending that APEC conference here, so noone will be skiing it which totally blows

Honestly ive decided the worst thing about Big Skys park is the inrun to swifty. I got destroyed today because some kid cut me off while i was trying to keep my speed up on the in run. Obviously this is not park crews fault, but really big sky, push some dirt or something so its not a full speed deathrace into that thing every time.
