Big sky once again manages to fuck up their park

Sorry for the rant, read if you wish, I'm just fed up.

Well they re-arranged the top section of the ambush park, and not only do they have everything set up shitty but you have to point it from the fucking top to clear a 20ft jump. Somehow they managed to make a smaller jump with a longer in-run, where they had a 50ft jump once, barely clearable. And not only did they once again set up the flat rail with absolutely no jump, again, but they set up the f-d-f with probably the smallest jump ever, and you have to haul ass into it to even get on top, then you just barely slide the rail because its so damn short.

Then did they not manage to set up another shitty rail section next to their half pipe. They have WHOA A SNOW STALL that is a solid 3 feet tall. Then the same thing after that with a trash can, of course. Then the next one, which is OK, has the flat round rail that you can stall/slide on, then a decent up rail. Then, once again, big sky decided to keep the 25ft deck on the bottom jump but continue to build the jump high to the sky. So now when you hit it, its a nice float for a sec, then you just drop straight to a marginal landing that isn't steep enough in my opinon. Big sky could easily make this jump 20+ft longer and have the best jump they have ever made, but they like only having to clear 25ft.

I'm sick and fucking tired of big skys park crew, no offense Isaac and the rest of the crew, but you guys need to fucking step it up, its march for god sake.
 
i was there like a few weeks ago. i wisho showdown's park was that good. haha, but thats not hard to do.. i liked that like horizontal barrel thing tward the top of the park. kinda fun, landing was way short on the other side though.... but im glade they put thier bigger jump at bottom, cuz last year they had it at top and most people needed to just straight it from that enterence. but i can see what your saying.
 
Heath, have you politely made these suggestions to the park crew? It is impossible for park crew to fix problems when issues are never brought to their attention. It goes a long way to ask nicely, and to accept that mtn politics are always a factor at wannabe desination resorts such as Big Mtn or Big Sky.
 
Well you see, the problem with that is that the park crew is never around to make "polite suggestions" to. When they are around, they are usually sitting there with a rake scrutinizing everyone that goes over their features. In my honest opinion, the park crew is lazy and generally (from what I have seen) not very good at riding over the features they set up. Yesterday, we encountered someone from the park crew riding up the lift with a machete; not to shape a feature or anything, but to trim a sign. Yes, thats right, they were trimming a sign when they could have been putting up any one of the many features that just sits around uselessly at the top of their park. I mean moonlight managed to put in a big C box in one MORNING. It took them maybe 3 or 4 hours of work and it is set up better than anything that big sky has put up all season. I mean, the park was better 2 years ago, this year's effort has just been dismal. And with mountain policies, I don't think that has been the limiting factor. Big sky has been advertising their zaugg pipe cutter pretty heavily in freeskier and other skiing publications. It is apparent that they want their park/pipe scene to be somewhat of an attraction. Skiers are going to start steering clear of Big Sky when they want to hit a park, because honestly I think that the lack of improvement from year to year is starting to become noticed by more people than the locals. I'm not saying I could do a better job, I am simply saying that there are 6 or 7 people getting paid to make sick things and nothing else, and so far have just not lived up to expectations.
 
Yeah, I'm actually buddys with the only skier on the park crew and I talk to him a lot and every time is "oh yeah we're doin' more!" and "oh not enough snow shoot!" but they have enough snow now, and I would think big sky would want the same as last year meaning decent jibs and a 50ft jump. So the problem is the park crew is lazy, if I was on park crew i would set up as much shit as possible, and big sky isnt doing that.
 
After further inspection/hitting the bottom jump below the pipe needs a steeper landing and a longer deck, period. I probably went about 10-15 feet down the landing, landed perfect, and it hurt my toes. Damn you big sky.
 
Isn't that an oxymoron? Weed and motivation? The last thing that Big Sky's park crew needs is weed. I will offer to pick up a fucking shovel and actually do something, but I doubt that will work either.
 
I don't think most of the park crew even smokes, they are just lazy and stupid already.
 
me and about 4 of my friends do that at showdown, work for free. up until this year we put in more work and did a better job than theyre hired help but they finally figured it out.

if anyone has been to showdown in the last 2 years, the rainbow box they have now was entirely moved by hand and the snow box last year was built by hand to. mainly volunteers
 
I am with you guys, and I will talk with them at Big Sky. And Heath, you made me feel better about my problems decking on that little top table, you literally have to bomb that shit!!! I cant even land a three off it due to the fact I just cant get the speed.
 
The speed was better on wednesday, you could carve into it after landing the first jump, and clear nicely.
 
oh and i might be alone, if anybody wants to chill with a 14 year old kid that wants to ski park for the weekend.
 
weed is the last thing that the park crew needs, i dont mean to rag on them, but shit i have seen them in the park like 2 times all year. they have so much cool shit they could setup that just fucking chills at the top of ambush. And shit there is more than enough snow to make a sick ass park

they opened the park at 11 fucking 30. serioiusly, how long does it take to open a damn park? oh and the mini park opened at like 11. shits fucking rediculous. i only saw the skier park crew guy, in the mini park once.
 
Yeah why the fuck does the park suck so bad? Do any of these guys have any experience making a terrain park. The half pipe is the shitest pipe I have ever seen. Some features are pointless, they only have up 3 decent rails (come on, 3!), the last jump needs to be at least 10 feet longer and the landing steeper. I am begining to think the park crew is too scared ( or just extremely lazy) to put any legit features up because they suck at riding. Can't the park crew see what a joke the park is. Since I'm from Denver over break i was lucky enough to ski Vail, Breck, and Keystone's park talk about a difference i remembered why i used to love skiing park so much. I have no repect for any of the park crew that stands behind their work ; because it is shit. I am going to E-mail Big Sky's Managment and complain about the park crew I suggest you all do the same.Sorry for that rant I usually hate bitching but this is the poorest job i have ever seen a park crew. Personally i hope they all get fired and Big Sky rehires a new more motivated crew. Please E-mail Big Sky because if we don't complain the park crew will still be sitting around with their thumbs in their asses.
 
They are just really lazy. They had a 50ft jump last year, supposedly 55ft at the end, they are just fucking lazy. They also all suck at snowboarding, Isaac is decent at skiing, but all the snowboarders are about as good a middle school aged snowboarders around here. Its fucking pathetic. Moonlight is where it is at for jibs, too bad there isn't snow making at their park or else they'd have dope jumps.
 
I talked with a couple BS folks and they are very pleased with the way their park turned out this year. I was like "No way" but thats Boyne, and the shitty snow we are left with is bunk at this point anyway. And I agree about Colorado, Keystone's jump lines are bigger than BS' whole park.
 
Park City had three times as many features set up in December than Big Sky had set up all year. Fuck Big Sky.

big sky can suck my nuts. laziest people ever. the pipe was really shitty(coming from somebody who has like never ridden pipe) that jump at the bottom is too small and the landing isnt steep enough, they havnt changed anything for a long fucking time. tey piss me off. they are getting paid to do somthing, that they never do,
 
I bet it's less.

And moonlight is now building what looks like a decent 30-35ft step down next to the flat down. Looks sick i cant wait to hit it.
