Big Sky 2015/16

Whats up everyone. Me and my college buddies are coming out to Big sky from New Hampshire in mid march for our spring break! We have been doing a bunch of research on the mountain and there is a ton of terrain. I am the only skier and there are 3 snowboarders with me. We have a place to stay for 6 nights in the mountain village. We are right across the street from the pond. We are all expert shredders and want to shred the best of the best when we are out there! It hasn't snowed at our home resort of Loon Mountain, but it is open with a bunch of snowmaking. We are all hoping you guys keep getting snow and have a bunch for us to play in, in march!

The terrain off the Dakota and the tram lifts seem really fun. Should we concentrate our time there or somewhere else?

Any advice about what to ski or how to get around would be appreciated. Pray for snow.

If you're here for a week you can shred all over this damn mtn! Dakota is def my favorite on a pow day, the tram gets burly lines when the snow is good cause it only takes 15 people up at a time, if you can hit it when the line isnt bad its totally worth it though. Marx into shedhorn wind lips is super epic, or Lenin to dictators

Awesome thanks for the tips! I really think that we're all going to have a blast. Is it hard to get from one end of the resort to the other? If so do you recommend staying in one area for the day to be able to get the maximum amount of shredding in?

My buddies are also looking to try and smoke in a few of the smoke shacks. Does anyone know the where about of any of them. I heard rumors that a bar as a map of all of the smoke shacks. Might be just rumors though.

It's so big that it might work best to focus on a section a day, tackle moonlight one day, south face, andesite etc. There are so many shacks, chances are you'll just happen upon a few if you're in the trees pretty much anywhere on the mtn. Hit me up when you're here and I'd be glad to give you a shack tour!

Hit me up if you make it out here at all this season!

I'm headed back on Tuesday for a week with Cody! Currently trying to figure out tickets since Chris Kammen is now gone and I know no one in marketing. Any leads? I think we will try to shoot something while we are home.

Hi all, first time I've logged in here in a few years.

I'm going to be visiting a few friends working at Big Sky Feb 18-23rd, but it looks like they're going to have to work at least a few of the days when I'm out there.

I'm trying to decide weather I should bring my BC setup, but am unsure of the terrain or avi conditions recently. Any info on that would be much appreciated.

Also if there's anything especially cool to check out around Bozeman or the surrounding areas around that time, let me know.

TL;DR: If anyone wants to show a former east coast park rat around, the first beer for apres is on me. Thanks!

Holy shit stoked I'm finally able to post this. New triple and challenger this summer. Challenger will be a doppelmayr fixed grip triple with a load carpet, triple will be a six pack high speed with bubbles. Fuck. Yes.

Oh dayummm, I thought they were just fixing some stuff with Challenger not putting in like the nicest lift you can. Too bad I'm moving at the end of the school year. *sad face

I'm gonna be out there in less than 2 weeks! Is the snow still looking good? Any tips on where the best terrain is and how are the parks looking?

Hey gang. I'm thinking of moving to Big Sky for the 16/17 season. What's it like getting work/housing?

work is easy, housing is a nightmare. start looking now, in about a month it will be near impossible. are you on facebook? go to big sky housing network on there, its your best bet.

Look for housing ASAP. Come mid August you're not gonna find a place, tell rven be tough finding a place in Bozeman then.

@daph, is the new bowl chair going to load in a different spot than the triple used to?

bottom terminal is moved up by the soup shack, top terminal is slightly lookers right of where it used to be so people can go in either direction when they unload. challenger is pretty much the exact same alignment.

there's only gonna be 40something chairs on it, they're gonna be super spaced out like they are on six shooter so uphill capacity wont go up by much. once we have a higher capacity tram then we'll put more chairs on. 3 min lift ride so pack your shit up beforehand or bring a doobie haha
