Welcome to this season's thread concerning big sky whee. stoked for another fun season with all of you!

To get things started here's some shit regarding parks:

swifty was slightly widened and tons of dirt work was done to assist with earlier opening and less rocks in the park. From what ive seen it looks titties, pussy, money

zero gravity is being moved to a new location on the run wagon train

theyre moving zero gravity?

Yep, less sketchy of a run-in and a myriad of other reasons. Swifty is the main park now, most attention will be paid to it

Daph, do you know if they will start blowing snow as soon as it's cold enough?

They're doing all the necessary maintenance to the snow guns right now, as soon as those temps drop they'll start firing them up

YAAAAASSS Swify was awesome last year, can't wait to see it this year. The two jumps last year were some of the most fun jumps I've ridden (besides the drop in trying to get speed), but really hoping for something like those again.

Right on, hopefully an early November start. I'm living in the village just dying of anticipation :|

We open thanksgiving day every year unfortunately

its been a wicked busy summer for parks up here at big sky but i thought it drop a quick informal update on what will be happening this coming season.

3 brand new parks with major work to a 4th

pretty much all new across the board for parks.

as daph has said, swifty has received a MAJOR rebuild. Aside from the dirt we used to widen and build up the jumps, we used over 4k yards of dirt just to fill holes and level the grade on the upper part of the trail. thats equal to about 2 acre ft of snow that we will no longer use to fill holes... but to build features.

in addition the the work on swifty proper, there is also a brand new stash park located skiers left of the park. this will be accessible through swifty and also kick you back into the park. Swifty - The Cache - Swifty - 2.0 - party...

ZG is indeed dead.. but the trail we have just finished blows it and swifty clear out of the water.

Peacemaker Park will be one hell of a good time.. i wouldn't count on swifty getting all the love. last season was impossible to build in ZG with the shit snow so i pretty much wrote it off. Peacemaker will kick ass and will not be an afterthought.

pony park is also dead.

it will be replace by Maverick park that will be inline with Peacemaker so you will be able to hit both in one lap. like i said, moonlight

as for the other 3 parks.. cowpoke has been widened to make more room for the little guys

explorer should be seeing some changes in the next few weeks to allow for better snowmaking.. 2.0 will be more of the same radness.

If your still debating your pass choice.. just do yourself a favor and #ridebigsky

anyway.. I'm psyched!

Fuck yea i was hoping you'd see this and come give us a run down! Sounds like this year will be the best year for parks in a coon's age

What are some good slack/ back country zones?

Beehive. Once the resort opens its fairly easy to access Cedar mtn and Fan mtn from the bc gates off the peak

Copped a sky freq card! But looks like I'll be headed back down to Jackson after the semester (daph don't hate me).

Have no fear I WILL still be getting my BS fix this winter though! Hello easy 3 hour drive!

How is big sky before christmas?

I am thinking about coming down but not sure how the snow usually is/how much terrain is open.

Based on what we have now, better than last year for sure. Still gonna be rocky above treeline, but it's always rocky above treeline at big sky. We've gotten quite a bit of natural snow and some high winds so some areas are super loaded and awesome whereas some areas are scoured and awful. We'll have lots of terrain open, moonlight opens Dec 11 and before then we'll have almost all of andesite and everything but the south face on lone mtn open for sure. Hopefully shedhorn opens before then but we're waiting on a super specialty bearing for the gearbox and who the fuck knows when that'll show up

is BS not doing a donation day for the gallatin valley food bank? I saw $20 day, but nothing about a food drive.

If not, that has to hurt the food bank. Giving to a food bank in exchange for skiing is a win-win in my book.

They're doing the donation day Dec 11

yooo... light was to flat today to get any good insta content but my park nerds out there should be psyched for opening on thursday. while it will just be 2.0 its going to be an all-time set up. 10-14 features.. 2 jumps and 4 of the jibs are fresh out of the shop for starters.. party!

Anybody else thinking of hitting up Big SKy $20 day next friday 12/3?

Depending on weather and other planning factors, I'll be driving up from Jackson either Thursday night or early early Friday. Looking for carpool peeps from JH, victor/driggs/targhee or anywhere else in between

I'm living in Bozeman until the 14th but hit me up if you're ever heading up again later this season, I'm always down for another trip up north.

Pretty damn solid opener y'all, beyond stoked for what this season holds. Big ups to mayor west and the rest of park crew for setting up one of the best opening week 2.0 parks I've ever seen
