Hahaha I don't think that'll be a problem, I've got a couple seasons at Steamboat under my belt already. But I'll have a blast watching you yell at other shitty liftys!

word well just stay humble, pretty tough crowd up here and locals don't give two shits what other resorts you've worked at. don't mean to sound rude, just giving you a heads up it will make your interactions with everyone else up here way better.

Yeah I'll probably beep for a little bit, get a pass for weekends, and Bridger it up on weekdays. All depends on what my school schedule looks like. Ima try to beep as little as possible, and try to get on some fun shit like challenger

You sound like a delight, would you enjoy having an internet tussle?

25, been to a few places, haven't skied Montana yet. Don't be an internet bitch

Hey dude, didn't mean to be too mean. You can check out the Big Sky Housing Facebook group but chances are you're a little late for winter housing. It's incredibly tough to find a place, and you'll be paying out your ass for one.

But good luck, Montana is awesome. I love it here.

If you don't have a place to live you're probably SOL now.

Also watched the heli work for a bit last night. Crazy how fast they fly in, hook up, then fly out. All in like 30 seconds.

A lot of planning goes into it before the actual fly day so once the chopper is there the whole crew works like a well oiled machine. Heli work is so expensive, you really can't afford to trip up at any time. The hook they use is so crazy, on cloudy days it builds up so much static in the air, if it doesn't touch the ground before you grab onto it to hook it to a load it'll shock you super bad. They can release the hook from inside the chopper too which makes the whole process so much faster. Super stressful work but its super fun too, very glad I've gotten to do some of that this summer.

Had to move to Michigan after I graduated. First time in 4 years I won't have a pass/ski Big Sky *heavy crying emoji*

Just discovered this thread but I'm surprised I haven't met any of you guys at big sky. I probably have but just don't know your name. I am shredding Park everyday, mostly swifty. This year again I'll be skiing bridger on weekdays and big sky on weekends! I hope they build big jumps this year.

Going to Big Sky on Jan 2nd. Gonna be bummed if they don't start opening a few more things off of the tram.

I see that the couloir opened today. How is it? Still need avy gear to ski it?

Couloir is skiing pretty well, I think you just need a partner these days, not a full avy setup. Everything else off the peak is bony as fuck, several people have reaaranged their faces via tomahawking through rocks. Hopefully we get more snow before you come out here

I saw they opened Marx and Lenin the other day, then closed them. Is that pretty typical? I gotta imagine its pretty rocky up there right now. Hopefully this weekend storm freshens it up.

Yes it's normal, the wind totally fucked the yeti traverse and you can't even make it over there right now plus a lot of stuff has slid pretty big. We got some snow last night and there's more in the forecast, plus sometimes the wind helps us instead of fucking us up the butt so ya never know haha

I'll be in Bozeman the week of 2/6 - 2/10 ... I'm looking for suggestions on how to get discounted tickets to Big Sky.

I saw they're a little cheaper if you pre-purchase them though the site, but I thought I'd see if there was any better deals you guys know of.

Any local tips?

If anyone is looking for an update...

The snow was getting pretty bad prior to the few inches they got today. Cold temps will do that to ya. The skiing on Lenin a few days ago was unreal. The snow from the peak blew down on it and it couldn't have been better. The yeti traverse was pretty hard to get into but the skiing was well worth it.

Headwaters, Otter slide, Marx, were all pretty sketch. Need a big storm to roll through soon.

Dakota skiing the best out of the terrain IMO. Not only is is considerably warmer, there are still stashes to be found hugging the boundary line and in the Bavarian Forest.

Dakota is always the best place to find pow days, even weeks after a storm. Glad you were able to get some decent laps while you were here, hope the cold wasn't too bad.

For the most part, the cold was bearable if you were skiing hard enough. But man, Moonlight is fucking freezing. Had to easily be 5-10 degrees colder over there at some points.

I don't doubt it, we call it the dark side for a reason haha. its nice in the summers though, i spent most of my time over there during the hottest months of the year and it was lovely.

I was talking to a patrol on the way up the tram and he said its always this hard to get into the liberty bowl and the dictators/lenin/marx, is that true? Even for the liberty bowl it was 5 minutes of side stepping the rocks to get into it.

I dunno which patroller you talked to but he's full of shit. This past month is the rockiest I've seen the entrance to liberty and the yeti traverse in a long time. Its always a little sharky on the top half of the peak but right now its extra ridiculous, all the locals I've talked to agree.
