Big ski boots; help

well my tecnica vento 10s are starting to wither away, so i'm looking into new boots this next year. i've been doing some research but i'd like to get more opinions

i have a size 13 foot... and wide; super inconvenient for finding ski boots. i like the 95 flex in my tecnicas, so i'd like to stay around there. they are a 30.5, but have packed out a ton so i think i should probably go smaller?

i've heard that salomon spk pros are nice and wide, and comfy, and you can shape them to your foot. but they only seem to go to a 29.5... too small? perfect?

nordica is also supposed to be wide...yes/no?

or i can stick with tecnicas, and get something similar to what i have

***yes i know i could find all this out myself, but i live in the middle of NO WHERE, probably 25+ miles from the closest ski shop, so any and all help would be appreciated. thanks

25 miles is nothing homie, hop in the car and get properly fit. The $3 in gas will be well spent, I guarantee it.

I had a kid drive from NYC to our shop in Burlington this winter - 10 hour round trip in one day. When you need to find the right boot, you'll do almost anything to get it.

right on, i was just hoping to narrow down some options before i sent it so i'd know where to start

i'll ask brian at colorado ski shop

Most boot companies make wider boots, but typically the wider they make them you start to sacrifice on the performance end of things. You might look into what Tecnica calls the HVL (High Volume Last) meant for larger feet like yourself. They are making the Phoenix 110 Hiperfit HVL this year. The HiPerFit liners are very nice and the last is 106mm (HUGE). Also to find a boot that wide with a 100-110 flex is kinda hard. These are just suggestions. I really recommend going to a place that will gaurantee their boot fits. Get fit properly and if there are any issues in the future they will take care of it for you. Good Luck

Some stiffer (100+) and wider lasted (102mm+) boots include:

Atomic B120 (120/104mm)

Salomon Mission RS 12 (120/102mm)

Rossignol Synergy Sensor 100 (100/102mm)

10/11 Full Tilt High Five (100ish/102mm)

Tecnica Phoenix 100 (100/102-106mm) - shells are the same, it's just a liner difference between normal and HVL.

You can find all of these up to a 29.5, and even 31 in some of these. As always, get shell fit, put them on, and get the one that's the best for you.

Where do you buy ski gear in the summer? I live in NY and the shop I go to normally gets converted into an outdoors store in the spring and summer. I would like to be able to buy my setup before Fall because prices would probably be lower. I know online stores are an option but I don't want to go with them because I can't see a boot fitter. I have used Google to search for shops around my area but its seems like the ones that actually have twin tips close or convert in the summer. Am I just out of luck? (Sorry for the thread jack but I didn't want to make my own thread for something so little.)

if memory serves me correctly, the Kaos comes in at a 105mm last and 100 flex. Salomon stopped printing the last width in recent years but that is what my older dealer catalogs have listed. And it's pretty accurate, i.e. fucking huge.
