Big Props and a Big thanks the Nimbus Crew for what they do

The Nimbus crew did what needed to be done, they changed how ski movies are made. They went away from the one person segments, and instead went with a spot location segments and they did an awesome job at putting the vibe at each spot in the edits. I for one was getting tired of the same kind of movie each year, and I guess this guys were too, but instead of waiting Eric, Pep and Andy took charge and made it happen. Each episode was really well done, and I cant wait for the movie to come out. So thanks guys for making a necessary change in the ways ski movies are made.

Love Chronological andor location editing. After watching Realtime I don't think I will ever enjoy rider segments as much as I used to.

Agreed, after watching Nimbus' movies and Realtime other movies just dont seem the same, definately a huge improvement.

What are they doing different? Warren Miller, TGR, MSP, and many others do destination segments. They all have gone way further around the globe doing it as well. If your in love with Pep, pollard, and andy thats great. If you like their films thats great as well. But don't bag on all the other film companies for being the same. Just say you love the Nimbus Crew.

I think Idea sucked and, even thought Hunting Yeti is better, I still prefer good old rider-segmnt based movies. Besides, they didn't invent the location segment movie, lots of snowboarding movies have done that before, not to mention RELATIME or segments in other ski movies like Long Story Short Park and Japan segments, Red Tape's Iceland segment or Skimatic's Lebannon part, to name a few.

Actually it doesn't really matter cause that's not the reason I don't like Idea anyway

I think the segments have a different feel than any of those other guys, watching those videos its the same sort of vibe you get from skiing with your friends... It's just not MOUNTAIN DEW PRESENTS XX-TREME SKIING! So, that's what I like about it.

I don't think Level 1, 4bi9 or Stept, for example, fit in the definition of MOUNTAIN DEW PRESENTS XXX-TREMEEE SKIING!....

What feel or vibe is so different that you get. There movie is fully sponsored HH, Line, K2, ect... Its not liked they all saved their money and went skiing with video cameras for the winter. Everyone is getting paid in that crew just like the others.

Tanners film blew these guys away. The progression of his skiing and the following of his year was a way better story. The skiing was unreal as well.

This thread is a hate thread and thats why I reply to it dip shit. It basically says their the best and everyone else sucks.

i love the nimbus feel, i love hunting yeti, i loved idea and i loved realtime but... i also like rider segment movies.. i think there is definitely a place for both.. with park skiing especially i still like segments better..

this is not a hate thread, this is a thread to give probs to those guys for trying something different in the ski world. I have mad respect for movies like massive. agian this thread was not ment to be a hate one

i love nimbus. but i wouldnt say they were the first people to get away from each person having their own segment. realtime came out that same year

The Nimbus crew makes ski movies as I think they should be made, and I can't give any higher praise to those guys. They kill it.

uhh I think you are referring to a different thread. this thread is talking about how cool the new webisodes that nimbus ind. puts out are and how he likes the editing style.. and i havent seen anyone talking about what other people do "sucks", and the only one hating here is you...

To call out other film crews by saying there all the same is hate to me and if you were working for one of the other production companies you would consider that a negative comment. Why can't he just say he really likes Nimbus.

to you? who are you to be saying such a thing? Yes I like Nimbus thats why I made this thread, I also like other companies like Level 1 who make awesome movies. I dont see where you get off being offended by this thread, so please stop commenting cause you are not contributing useful at all.

"I for one was getting tired of the same kind of movie each year"

What's that and how are they all the same? Is that a useful contribution?

i can only take so many 360s......... it seems like pollard, pep, and andy sorta packed it in with regards to progression this year. I understand that they created a dope feel in the Nimbus episodes..... i just like to see a trick mixed in every once in a while that makes me go "Oh Shit.... That was dank." I got that during Idea..... not so much this year with the webisodes.

love what they are doing, just a really chill movie with stylie innovative tricks, but have seen like 20 flat 3's (probably just warm ups though)

It's funny...I can't explain the allure or the specific appeal of the nimbus crew. Regardless, it's there for me. I wouldn't exactly say that they are "re-inventing the ski/snowboard movie" as several other production companies have explored some of their minimalist ideas (less focused on the individual rider, sans heli shots, etc.). However, I like the fact that it's essentially a group of like minded individuals who genuinely seem to be friends (as opposed to co-sponsees or teammates) who are living the dream. I watch a lot of ski movies where my reaction is "That was ridiculous, I iwsh I could do that". I watch their movies and think, "That was ridiculous, I want to be there with those guys." Last but not least, I really appreciate them putting together such quality footage...for free.

Im sure theyre saving the oh shit tricks for the movie. I mean look at the mount st helens segment, 5 hits in the webisode, theres a lot more going on than that. I love their shit, it just has such a great vibe and gets me so stoked to go out there and rip. Still though, besides all of the 3s they had some great 7s and stuff in mammoth, and they always make it so damn relaxed, its just so different from that intense comp scene stuff that I love it. The Massive might blow this movie out of the water for wow-factor, but Ill be just as psyched up if not more after watching the low budget hunting yeti. Oh and by the way for the guy that said everything was fully sponsored, it sure as hell isnt much and they spent all of their personal money to put idea together last year~

Not hating on the Nimbus crew at all, they've done a sick job but... the movie style is a far cry from original. Warren Miller has been doing it for years. More than fifty of them. Basically ski films finally grew up and recognized other styles of movie editing besides the traditional extreme sports format that every "extreme sport" has used since day one. Props to Nimbus, 4bi9 and Level 1 for leading the charge but it's nothing new.

good skiing, good fun lookin stuff, but they didnt really change anything.

I dont want every movie or web blog video thingy to be the same.

If every one does things their own way, and does as good a job as they can with what they have available... i think its sick.

were you even watching that cornice and mammoth sesh?

and to real-deal, no other company was brought up untill you made your post, take your useless hate elseware.

yes! the last webisode was soooo good, finally atleast one ski movie company is being creative and fun, i am so unbelievably sick of every ski movie being extremely over serious and trying sooo damn hard to be as epic and badass as they can, i hope other companies take a hint, relax a little and stop pretending that they arent having fun and skiings all buisness.
anyway i cant wait for the movie, everything they do, especially in this last webisode is so creative, the only thing i wish they would do is a little more park, like hitting rails and just messing around on everything, they do quite a bit of park jumps, but with their creativity, i bet rails and jibs and stuff would be so awesome, and it would probably be amazing to see what they could do with urban.
and the music has gotten a little old, since literally every song in the movie and their webisodes have had the same style and vibe, they should change it up a little, a hunting yeti segment with some sweet new upbeat electro/pop style stuff, or some awesome 80's stuff would be really sweet, and fit their vibe really well.

i think they found the yeti.... then used its powers to come up with awesome features like the cornice wall ride....

props to pep, andy, eric, ike, chris and whoever else was a part of Hunting Yeti.. the webisodes was such a sick idea..

Take your useless love and stick up your ass bitch. Just give props with out saying everyone else is doing the same thing. That is all I was asking buddy. The other companies I mentioned were only examples.

so awesome...i love watching their stuff, it's awesome seeing them ski hood and mammoth and other places that i myself skied this season, it makes it that much better.

Its exactly that vibe that someone mentioned thats so appealing. I like watching plenty of other ski movies, many of them much more fast paced. But sometimes something more laid back is good too.

First of all its free for us to watch and for being free its damn good. Also its sweet to see them hitting that jump right next to Timberline parking lot at Hood. I think the movie, along with their skiing styles reflect the vibe that comes out of the Pacific Northwest, especially the Hood area. I dont know exactly what this vibe is.. I would describe it as doing smooth, styley tricks and making it look effortless and fun. Essentially its a totally laid back and relaxed approach to freestyle skiing. That's how I see it anyway...

InI made a point not not read any of the other posts and make my own comment ignorant of what has already happened.

I enjoy what they are doing. They are trying to do something different. It's not like it hasnt been done before, the format of documenation and such, but the entire movie (edit) is made from this this formula. Which is cool, and makes the view feel like they are there with the crew.

I think that most of what happened on the videos/edits are easily within the ability of people in this site. I'm not belittleing the abilities of the athletes, and saying "easily" isnt reallly appropriate, because it is not easily attained. But there was nothing super sweet.

this is where I agrue against myself because tommy's lincoln onto the wall and his lincoln off were rad. . .

other moments like that rodeo handtouch thing in mammoth were way sick .

What I'm trying to say is that this movie is like a day out with your friends, and is pretty obtainable by most people. That makes it sweet. You think; "Oh, I could do that, that looks like fun". and it is awesome. Its a whole other aspect of ski movie, its what ski movies are intended to do, introduce stoke into our lives for skiing. so bravo team, bravo.

It's just too bad anon dropped skiers, and pollard has to be on dragon. I hate dragon. .

Let's not forget that you still have months to wait to see everyone else's movies. We have, in a sense, released three, and you don't even have to wait for them to be shipped. Love them or hate them, thank you. As long as you're watching them.

This new webisode was so sick. It just showed so much fun style of skiing. And the locations looked pretty sick as well. Lovin the nimbus crew

Nimbus is the best thing that has happened to skiing since Idea came out this fall, and before that it was hellbents. These guys are displaying the funnest parts of skiing and themselves having a ton of fun doing it. Rock on!

the nimbus crew reinforces my opinion that oregon is the best state in the usa. i love sitting here in june watching all their hard work pay off in areas i can almost see out of my window.

they already said that the movie made them feel as if they were skiing with there friends... and either ur brand new and dont know much.. or ur an alias of some filmer from some other company hatin
