Big Mtn Slope Style

I was just reading a post below on what’s better big air or slope style and there was a post, slope style in the backcountry. Why couldn’t this be done, this could be like the mother of all competitions. The way I can only see it working is over a season people would have to qualify for the event, you could only take like a max number of people like 10-15. A pre scooped out area like a nice bowl or large pow field that had some cliffs, and corrnices could be checked out for ave. safety and then once the spot was picked out a crew of diggers could come in and be given like 3 days to build some massive booters, some big rails could be set up and you could litterly make a type of slope style in the backcountry. In my mind newschool is pretty much headed to park riding all over the mountain, in pow, in the parks, of cliffs, through the trees, down narrow lines, on powder drops, EVERYWHERE. This would be my mind the ultimate goal to reach. Riders being disciplined in all aspects of riding. It would put an end to the debut on park rats and big mountain riders. Judging would be based mainly on all the competitors and a small part would be based on 10 judges that would be other skiers who came close to being able to compete. And to keep it unbiased from judging the 5 judges would all mark scores but only 3 scores out of the five would be used and those would be randomly chosen judges. That way the judges wouldn’t know if their scores were being used or not. To me this could be like the ultimate competition and photo/vid shoot of the year. Something could be set up so that the money could either go to the pros or the money could go to a ski charity of their choice. I.e.: sites like newschoolers, rider sponsorship funds for up and comers, etc. Whats everyones thoughts on this?

i would hate that... its a so-so idea... hucking cliffs, skiing pow, and stuff like that is great cause its the essence of backcountry... rails would be just bull shit for the backcountry, jumps and stuff arent as bad... i just forgot what i was talkin about

ah now i remember... thats what the whole scene in alaska is all about, cept without the rails and stupid shit... skiing 55 derees pitches covered in bottemless, fluffy pow, then hucking a 50 footer, then maybe going downa nice steep coulior or a nice steep spine... backcountry jibbin would be dumb, at least thats my opinion

or they could be real men and huck off the cliff without a booter. they could have rails in the finish area, but who wants to ruin their edges?

mike d's tree jibs in propaganda were pretty ill

THE SPRINKLER: get butt naked and then do a 1260 while taking a piss, i expect this trick to win many comps this coming season.

im not saying where going to take a big mountain run and throw in some rails and jumps cause that would be insane. why ruin a good thing. If anyone has seen the freeze add with the skier hitting the two backcountry booters back to back ( i think its CR) i was thinking we could just illaberate on somthing like that by adding a few more hits, 2 or 3 rails like the one pollard does the huge 270 off of in the line add and in propoganda. and maybe a 50 foot cliff of to the side for riders to hit up in there run if they choose.

1)The word is elaborate, not 'illaborate'

2)Adding rails to the BC, or even 'building' a BC course ruins the appeal of BC

3)Freeriding already covers just about everything anyway (except for rails)

In ewither ski movie three or happy Dayz, (i tihnk happy days) mike douglas does a slopestyle/backcountry run. it was sweet.

Naw dude its such a cool idea. you dont manipulate the BC you leave it how it is maybe add a tiny lip at the edge of the drop to help but other then that have a veriation of a windklup some cliffs a line and stuff would be hella cool...and it may happen

DUDES

This magical event that you guys are all talking about has been around for the past couple of years. Rip Curl something something. I saw a special on it. They get like a hundred pros stick them up on a hill and the build jumps and then pull shit for like two or three days....

They have guys and chicks pulling crazy things.

they have people build jumps and do multi-day sessions but they dont do a slopestyle comp thing in the bc, i hope they never do

yea, thats basically the rip curl heli challenge, minus the rails as far as i know, they do huge booters, chinese downhill, big air, big mountain, i forget the rest, its sick i want to do it in a few years

jesus had a mullet

I'm somewhat biased as I'm the one who suggested it but I think that a big mountain slopestyle would be fucking sweet. I think each guy would only be able to have one run though because the landings would get bombed out.
