BIG MTN changed its name, HOW GAY

that is pretty lame- at least they didnt do like a sports arena and name themselves after a cell phone company.
 
well actually they just changed the name of the resort... "Resort officials emphasized that they are not changing the name of the mountain. USGS maps will always point to the official name of the 6817-foot peak as Big Mountain." so we can hate Whitefish Mountain Resort instead of Big Mountain...
 
but hey im thinking about writing an editorial about how the management sucks... does anyone know if big mtn actually flew in the foreign ppl? cuz they say theyre trying to trying to say they changed it to "Whitefish" mtn resort to tie it to the town more, but it seems to me they could not fly in foreigners and pay a couple more dollars an hour to liftees and have locals working up there.
 
They did. However, the lifies that did come in from South America and South Africa told me several times that Big Mtn treated them well, and that they were making more than they could back home where they couldn't get jobs because the market was so small. It seems that it wasn't a bad deal for Big Mtn, and the people who came in got helped by it.
 
im not saying i had anything against the foreigners, its just that if big mtn was really trying to help the local economy and be tied to whitefish, it seems like they could have paid locals more to work up there or dropped prices on local passes more rather than flying ppl in from other countries.
 
basically big mountain or well- whitefish mountain resort simply cares about making money first and foremost. they caters to rich ppl and not skiers. i made several trips to resorts in the national park up in canada and since they are not allowed to build condos everywhere, the resorts are well maintained and designed with the skier/rider in mind first and foremost, not real estate.

the park is absolutely horrible... they should have their own groomer to work with

the pipe... well yeah hmmm... buy a pipe grinder then use it once a month, which it probly only gets used like twice cuz it takes so long for them to get the pipe going.

i dont think ive ever had a day where lifts havent stopped more than once on big mtn. or when people that rnt skiing are uploading/downloading on chair one.

the won the vert contest this year and i never got anything, so i called them up and i was like hey could you guys give me like a free pass or a break on my pass for next year... obviously no was the answer... even though it wouldnt have cost them anything.

well there are many more things i hate about the management of big mtn and ill keep posting them as i think of them.
 
obviously youve never been to showdown. hahah but i agree with you and thier profit thing goin on.
 
ehhh doesnt really effect me at all. I give props to Foley for putting so much money into our debt ridden mountain. The new chair improvements should make chair two alot more viable as well as the new lodge at the bottom of six.

Change is good in my opinion.....

And as far as the park goes...dude you have to remember, we are in MONTANA. Go to park city if you want to ride a really good park. I mean fuck come on, we just got good skateparks in this state starting about 5 years ago....it will come with time.
 
how bout the mountain not opening for the traditional thanksgiving? they're opening in december aka fucking the locals...making us wait to ski with the tourists.
 
The really sad thing is that if they got the grooming straightened out and got a park crew that was as motivated as the Events crew was this year, the park could be as good as PC (on a smaller scale).
