Big Mountain Ski Choices

Hey kids, I'm trying to decide on a pair of big mountain skis and have 'narrowed' it down to these 6 choices:

*4frnt MSP 187

*Armada JP/Julien Pros 191

*Armada ARV 185

*K2 Maide'n AK 189

*K2 Seth Pistol 189

*Volkl Gotama 190

Any experiences you have had with these skis good or bad would be very helpful. Thanks.

^Yeah, the JP/juliens and the Gotamas seem like very similar skis, not too much cut, high tails and a soft flex. I'd rather have a stiffer ski, but I really like the minimal side cut idea.

actually what you should do is either go to welches and stalk pollard or wait for him in the rafters of the lift house at tline or something with a tranq gun and when he finally cruises through eventually you tranq him, jump down and steal his prophets.

why no mention of motherships, those would be way better than ar5's i think, in 192, and better than some of those other skiis, i havn't heard anything bad about them

I would go for the Gotamas, also look at the Explosives and even the V-Pro's (they will do just about anything), Volkl make very quality big mountain skis. In point of fact, if you've got a spare grand or something and want some swallow-tails check out the Saranouks (sic?)!

They look insane!

Pistols are good, but they're pretty soft in my opinion.

I've heard the Elan big mountain are real nice, though I don't remember their name. 777's maybe?? Worth checking out on all acounts.

 
I'd buy explosives in a second, but they aren't twin tipped anymore, and they are no good for BC booters and jumping because of the steel stringer which I have heard folds if you land wrong. I also want something I can ride switch on which is why I'm looking at the JP/julien and Maide'n AKs.

The Jp vs Julien would be my pick, but skis that haven't had a year with the public yet kind of scare me. I just want to know what i'm getting into before i drop $600.

 
Yeah, I just read the gotamas have more metal bands in them this year which=stiff which=good, so the waters are turning in their favor.

^Haha, I'm not a fan of short turns, but you can throw unshaped skis sideways easier than shaped skis without worrying about the tails hooking up in crud. I like the non shaped idea.

#1 - ARV's, #2 - Pistols (cept they look mighty gay and british), #3 - MSP's... stay away from made'n and gotamas unless you really think your gonna be seeing that kinda powder on a regular basis..

if your worried about price go get some fischer bigstix 106, i have a pair and i love mine for touring because they're so light and if you want a big mountain ski look no further then the head monster 103. i just sold mine but its the stiffest ski i've ever been on

 
it depends what kinda big mountain you do. if its big big moutain i'd say made'n ak, and for smaller big mountain the seth pistols/seth vicious or whatever

visious wont be out for a year so not them for who ever said that, theres a dynastar big mtn twin in the works suposedly but i like my madens there stiffer then the pistol but if u want something for more big mtn go with maden if u want to do all mtn but still have a sick big mtn ski get pistol and i donot know anything about the otheres

Stiff = Mad Trix Mojo. Soft = Seth Pistol (or Made'n if you think you'll be seeing that much pow). HOWEVER, if you'd like a really good deal on some Atomic Big Daddys (107mm waist) and think you'll be seeing a ton of powder, I know where you can find them.
