any competitors out there? i'm in breck, and i'm tryin to find or start a team. tell me what you know

wehrman? wasn't he in a warren miller flick like 10 years ago? abasin is alright, but it just isn't very big unless you drop out of bounds and then it's some narly shit.

true the basin isn't very big, but at least it's got steeper terrain than the flats at breck and the stone

vail has some good stuff to. especially if you hike and don't get busted - i've heard back side of blue sky is uber.

mmmm...back side of Blue Sky. I heard that if you know what you are doing, you can drop off the side of Game Creek or maybe Blue Sky and get to a road. Never done it, but I would like to.

^ i'd be willing to try it on a cold day in case hiking will be necessary.

off of game creek you can ski the minturn mile to the saloon in minturn, pretty nice bowl up top but nothing to brag about

head to A-Basin...hook up with Rex Wehrman, Gary Fondle and crew. Those guys are all into the Big Mtn scene.

these guys on here????

You wont get busted at Vail if you exit through the backcountry gates...which is where the good stuff is anyway. However, avy conditions are harsh and dangerous in CO, especially in Vail. Don't go ob unless you have the knowledge, partner and gear.

there is an awesome run at vail...you go off the 22 chair or w/e...the poma way over on the back bowls, hike up thru the out of bounds gate, dont go out, instead cut left, and hike along the ropes, and there is a good cliff line thats fun to drop

haha well i never hit them, cuz back when i went up there i dropped a cliff earlier over on another run and got rocked, and realized i was scared but dropped thru a clean line, but yea its deffinately sick! i wanna head back up there this year!

I'd guess that you will find more big-mountain folks over on biglines.com.

That being said, the Basin has a pretty tight crew who compete, especially in the Colorado Freeride Series over in Snowmass.

I'd also have to give the Taos event (skitaos.org) really high points for organization and vibe. One of the best events around, IMO. The mountain is also a skier's paradise (no snowboarding, gnarly terrain). But if you like the park and pipe, Taos won't have much to offer. Strictly a big-mountain experience.

I'd have to echo the Taos comment, the comp last year was pretty sick. I go down about 5 times a year to ski.

There were some summit county guys that competed there last year.

Hell yeah, Taos is my hometown and its the shit. hopefully there will be snow for this years extremes. if anyone wants a locals tour, i know the awesome stashes(north american chutes)!!!! going to berthoud pass also has some badass backcountry skiing. but u need to find someone with a snowmobile.
