Big Mountain Park

That was it, according to the newspaper. They lost power to the lifts or whatever. The paper might not be right though.

Still ridiculous. The park is ridiculously shitty lately too. Need to change the hits up and make bigger stuff, and groom the thing.

^Still better than mt. baker which is closed until wednesday. I would expect for Big Mtn. to have a better park than it sounds like they do, though.

about the park, i was up there today and it was closed, they are redoing everything no more step up looks like theres going to be another jump after the step up i dont know what, just thought id tell you guys

They turned the middle jump into an actual table now. Top one is a roller at this point, and lame. There's just a huge mound of snow where the stepup was. I told them to make it into a 60 foot table with a lip that puts you up way high. Then they were like "oh, we could just do a bigger stepup" retards. The point of having a jump put you higher in the air is so that you can do bigger, stylier tricks, and if youre higher in the air, it's way more rad.

The rails and box segment is sooooo much better, and the second table finally has a real landing. The park is tits.

I wouldn't go as far as that. The snow between the boxes? stupid, if you can't clear the gap, you shouldn't be hitting it, period. Lose the gap. Landing for the shotgun rail? how about it. Perhaps someone should email them some diagrams that show a landing for a rail that high should start a few feet after the rail, not dead on the end of the rail. That's my two cents.

I got a little footage from the slopestyle, but it didn't come out really well because of the weather.

Yeah, i got both of all of the expert skiers runs. I was the kid sitting on that rock wall with the tripod inbetween both jumps. Nice runs by the way.I wish i could've entered, but my toe is broken and I'm in a cast. Oh well...

they looked good, if you really wanted to i could show you sometime, or maybe put 'em on a disk and give it to you, let me know

My computer is really slow, or else i don't know what i'm doing, but i can't get the video on the web. sorry

The video clip just loaded, and to check it out go to videos, then jumps, and it is called jake's slopestyle run

I like the gap on the boxes, it is fun. They should lose the snow though, it would be fun to watch people eat major shit.

That last jump was super fun after I cleared all the snow off of it. I was doing huge cork threes, and rodeo mutes tweaking the mute as hard as I could. Hooray for a cool jump, now it just needs to be bigger!

i did today david, it was bad, i was skiing and i was going to try to switch up on it but i had too much speed and just ended up sliding it on my ass and then like gapping it and falling on my face, i was laughing the whole time so it was fun, the jumps are so sick now, throwing down is inevidable if thats how you spell it

If you end up in the park, watch out for the hits being a bit fast, as I nearly killed myself today hitting them for the first time.

yeah. and the stepdown is bigger now and more lippy. its way siccker but you come in super fast. i tried a switch 5 on saturday and overrotated i beleive and got knocked out.

I heard that they have some new rails, including an s-rail, but my source is sort of unrelieable. Has anyone else heard this, and if so, what did you hear?

Your source is a shithead. I would seriously kick someone in the balls with my tecnicas on if they started spouting shit like that. I wish we had an S rail, but this year we have only two new boxes and a tiny, as in like 5 ft long up-flat rail.

The park is pretty huge now, well for big mountain standards at least. I'll have some pictures of today soon. I won't care about this park once our pipe is done, if it ever gets done.

That sucks man, but my hopes weren't too high because that's the way this kid is. This is no joke, he said that big mtn has 35 new rails and boxes. oh well, those boxes are kind of fun though

yeah but i dont liek the new box/rail setup, but you havnt hit it up yet because of your injury... but i cant wait for you to recover because no one else or our friends likes to hit up the park. we will have to have mad sessions. and i ordered those goggles and a new helmet, if i didnt tell you already, and im going to steamboat this weekend

Here's some pictures from Monday. The park is big enough to launch some shit and throw down. Check it:

nice pics, i'd like to see some with the jump in them though, but those are good, nice and clear

the big mtn park got gay this weekend... they fucked the flat down box so it's not even fun anymore and you cant try stuff on it without forsure death and the rail are all setup weird

i haven't been up there, but maybe they are hitable, but not easily trickable, just food for thought, any news on the halfpipe?

If it gets below 24 degrees they'll start blowing it. They want to fill up the whole trench. So don't expect it anytime soon.

Here's something I posted in a cult:

So, Tommorow is going to be a pivotal day. I'll find out if my season is shot, or if I'm just out for a week or two. I pulled a Simon Dumont today, and overshot hard. We sessioned the park in the morning for awhile, went and had lunch, tore around on some fast groomers since our mountain was solid ice today, and then went to the park again around like 1pm. I come down, hit the first two jumps, and come into the third switch, speed check twice, think I'm good, come off, switch five, and then i see that I've missed the landing completely. Here's a little diagram of it. The red line is my trajectory.

death4je.jpg

I landed on solid ice, no give at all, on my feet, rode it about 5 feet, and then I couldn't stand the pain on my ankles. I sit and recover for a few minutes, and head down. My boots are racefit now, and so I skied down without much flex, so I thought I was ok. Come into the flat down rail, do a switch lipslide disaster onto it. My favorite trick for the rail. come off, and i realize i'm still all fucked up, destroy myself on the rail. Today was not my day. So I get to my car, take off my boots, and I can hardly stand. Any weight kills me, and everytime I move my left ankle it pops and grinds. My right ankle is just super sore. So I hobble to my car, drive home, and chill out with ice all night. Here I am now. I hate overshooting. Tommorow if it shows nil or no improvement, I'm going to get xrays. Then I'll find out if I have a season left or not. But I'm stuck in my bed, it's rad. No walkie for jakey. I guess it's only fair, I had three really awesome days for shooting pictures with my photographer, and was rock solid everyday, all day. So I guess I got over confident or something. If my seasons dead, I'm ok with it, I'm the new posterboy for my local mountain. Yeah!
