Big Mountain Park

the new park is up. pretty fun even though it isnt very big yet. there is a fun stepdown, a pretty fun box setup that is like a 20 foot flat to a 20 foot down, and some other rails and jumps. hoping it will improve by quite a bit, but not bad for now

Not too shabby. They have a good number of rails and stuff in, but that step down is an example of Big Mtn still not getting it right in the park. I only had a change to hit the park twice today, as I spent most of the day working on the jump hill, but I nearly overshot the steep and short landing that doesnt match the loading dock takeoff. They have a lot up and running, but need to fix some stuff.

that would be almost impossible to overshoot the step down yesterday. i went mini from the top and pump the roller into it and i got it perfect. not even close to overshooting

When I throw that flip thing I was throwing. Call it what you will. I was told rodeo..but off a flat takeoff, it looks diff because it's hard to throw it with no lip, but anyways, i had to speedcheck hardcore otherwise I was landing in the flats, and well, that sucked balls.

I disagree, as I didn't see you out there today in the rail jam, Jake. The jump hill makes for a much better venue, and has a kick ass landing with its own lift as opposed to riding Chair 3 with the gapers.

The rail jam was fun today, despite whatever volklpro might say to the contrary. There was a gap to flat box to gap, a down rail, and a down box. Doug Nangle absolutely destroyed the course, and if I could connect my camera to the computer, I would put it up. Fucking ridiculous.

well, I'm sure doug did well. He definately has me on rails. but I think I've got him in the air. My bigger and better things were an evening with my girl, since she leaves very soon. but...it's never good when she goes home at 5 am and her mother is waiting up for her...oh well right?

probly expert for slopestyle. i think i could hold in there but not place in expert. i did the one below expert for the rail jam and won

Wrong. Doug stuck a smooth Cork 10 on the jump hill on Friday. Doug just all around destroys everything. I predict he will place in the top ten at the Open this year....

Another thing: This weekend is Aerials and Big Air at Snowbowl, so I wont be able to hit up the slopestyle. Too bad.

We'll see, it all depends on if I have my new skis by saturday. I'll give him a run for his money. I thought he was leaving this week for something though. I don't doubt that he's good, but slopestyle is more than one good jump, he can string things together, but one fall can kill you. I'm not knocking on him, so don't be a dick man. It also depends on if the park crew decides on not being gay. Can I get a holla back for some lip on the stepdown?

If they increased the gap a bit, then we would be talking, but that thing is short. And the park crew sits on their asses and picks their noses the whole time they are on the clock, so good luck.

I'm tempted to just steal a shovel from the shack when they're in there, and go down to the step up, and spending a day cutting it out into a decent lipped jump...haha, they'd love that.

I was dissappointed about the park so far this year. Although I've only been up twice and only hit the park a few times. That big jump has a short ass landing, which i dont like because i tend to overshoot haha. Alot of groms in that area too. I like having the park on the frontside though, its a good idea, but Big Mountain really needs a better park crew. That setup is weak in my opinion.

Did they change it at all for the slopestyle comp? I saw it snowed like 13 inches overnight.

The halfpipe is looking nice and long, although it looks rather wide. Hopefully they will make it less wide with snow.

It was the same for the slopestlyle, just plus a few rails from what it had been all week. The big jump has a short landing? News to me dude, did you see any of the jumps from the last few years? In comparison it's huge. Halfpipe is scheduled for debut like end of Jan/beginning of Feb.

I didn't get any pictures of the comp, and it was super foggy and socked in. The ones Mountain Photography got were super lame, because they are quite possibly the worst photographers ever. Here's a few I got when I was skiing on Thursday:

On a side note, Big Mountain is Officially gay. A verified 22 inches on the summit, the biggest storm of the year, or in a few years, shuts down the whole resort. We sat in line from 8:30-12:30 before they said it was closed for the day. Avy danger and power failures. On the avalance note, that's BS, the snow wasn't sliding worth shit. And they can run on diesel, they're just fucking cheap. So all in all, weak sauce. I came down, because I didn't want to wait 25 minutes to ride chair 2 once. More snow expected overnight.

You should take some pictues of the bird view of the whole set up and post them up...

They shut the mountain down with all of that powder? I would be livid if I waited that whole time without getting to ride it.

It still get's crowded, but without the park I don't really ski back there as much. Unless I'm skiing in the canyon or the backside of the Tbar. Bighorn is cool, but it's too fucking short to make it worth skiing. So I stick to the front. There's tons of gapers in the park now, even more than last year, because it's on three, and nobody monitors it.

thats so fucking stupid they would close, if i would have skipped school to go and ride powder and get there and be told i cant go because of snow pack or whatever bullshit, i would fucking rage and im a peaceful kid

No shit. That is such weak sauce that Big Mtn didnt open on a pow day. It took about 100 inches to shut down briger last year, and they are a much smallers scale area.

That would work until they're in the booth and go, hey, those guys got on. Then they hit the red button, and you're caught.

Haha, we stood there for 4 hours, believe me, we covered every idea. Haha. That and huge snowball fight with the lifties, left side and right sides of the lift, we had a gondola barrier, so our side won. Then we swore at patrol. Did some tech lines on Chair six, started a huge slide over on that left apron on 6...NOT. The snow wasn't gonna slide. Fuckers.

Our park needs to be fixed. Everything should be set up urban, with a 60 ft table and 50 ft step up. And they should build a 20 ft gap to rail. That would be cool. The park is getting old already.

Haha, i guess if you're going to wish, wish big. I've been telling them that forever, it won't ever happen...they're gay. We should have a superpark to match our superpipe

22 inches shut down big mountain thats the largest bunch of shit i have ever heard. here in austria the resorts stayed open after getting over a hundred cm. you do the math. over 3 feet new. fucking cheap bastards better fix all this shit up this weekend cz im coming home motha fuckas cant wait

That is kind of lame, I've seen Bridger open with no delay after getting 45" of snow. Maybe the huge amount of new snow that was already on the ground had something to do with it, I know I was getting a ton of slough coming down N.B.S on saturday. But I think they were shut down with electrical problems because the trees kept falling on the lines, maybe that was just a part of it, but there was an article posted further up that was about the power being out or something.
