Big Mountain Comps

My only questions is how would someone get involved in doing these competitions. I realize that if your pro you get invited. so are there any smaller events one could go to and potentially move up to bigger comps after getting recognition.

you just have to keep a close eye on events at mountains you would want to go to. i know here in the east there were a few mountains that held big mountain comps for really anyone to join

You live in Washington Crystal and Stevens both have big mountain freeride comps multiple times a year.

Freeride World Tour is like full on pros isnt it? Are there amateur events? Where you wont look like a gimp for not cork 7ing a 40 foot cliff?

yeah they have a whole series called the freeride world qualifier that earns you points to get onto the actual world tour.

Ski the East has a comp series that covers several east coast venues. The lines arent as gnarly as some of the big west coast comps, and i have yet to partake, but it sure looks like a good time.
