Big mountain bindings

looking for sweet bindings that wont pre-release. i dont have the time to try out 5 different bindings before the season starts, and need to find out what i am going to mount on my gottamas. i want something with a din of atleast 14 that wont pre-release. already almost destroyed my knees too many times on marker. I would love some advice on bindings that would be good for big mountain and backcountry jibbage, as well as preserving my knees.
 
i am i bike mechanic, not a ski salesman, i get the employee purchase stuff, but work in the bike shop, and the other guys in the shop are all tele guys or not very agressive skiers, so thats why i am asking.
 
yea the TGR guys know their shit, but seriously, you dont want to read all the way through some of their forums. basically, they beat a dead horse all day about how good 916s are.

if you can sport the dough and are heavy enough to make em work, s916s or p18s/FKS18s etc are top notch. also, another thing the TGR guys, and myself like, are older Salomon binders. tend to have more metal, and tend to be cheaper. i dont remember the names exactly, but theres 997 drivers and 977s, couple more. if they havnt been used that much, those things fuckin rip like new binders. i was cruising through my friends garage and fount a pair of brand new rasta colored 977 Drivers, which are older 914s, and got i cant wait to use them.

so, older salo's are good, dunno about older looks, although i cant imagine them being bad. your list should go something like this though.

thats what i can tell you with experience that works. theres others. but thats what i know.
 
if i run a binding with a din of 12 that means if i want to huck any cliffs of moderate size i am going to have to crank my bindings all the way up, and they dont release well in the top 15% of the spring. thats where all the torn ACLs happen. so if i want to crank my bindings to 12 or 13 it means that i need a binding that goes to 14 or 16.
 
the 916 is a hell of a binding, it is literally indestructible. the FKS 18 freeride is another great choice. not as heavy, may actually release if you NEED it too, doesnt interrupt the skis flex pattern, a better skiing binding, but not quite as durable. the promising looking, its wicked lite and very burly looking. definatly not your dads marker. Old race looks and salomons can be had for next to nothing, and are great bindings. i scored a pair of Look TT9s on ebay for 5 bucks, in awesome shape. its 100% metal, heavy as fuck, and has a really cool one piece toe release with an ON/OFF upward release, as well as a 15 din. so, yea.
