Big Mountain 2006-parks/pow/discussion

The park is rad right now. Best it has been all year. And the pipe is rocking as well, I would assume this weekend will create some great shralping opportunites.

hehe. Ill consider it for sure. Never tried that, it would be cool.where were you this weekend? The snow was slow as shit on Saturday, but got better sunday.

I cant believe how much snow melted. its going fast.

the halfpipe is sick right now.

If you havent, pick up the Independent and read about that major shareholder in big mtn, its interesting

By the way, the missoula skatepark is sooo fucking sick......

im definately gunna poach the pond if they wont change the age thing. are you guys doing the skier cross next weekend? its a pretty sick course.

After talking to Josh, head of events, he said there was no reason it couldn't be 18+ this year. I hope that is the case, because I want to hit it switch on my P4s.

Greetings all,

Sorry I havent replied in here for awhile, I just been slacking as far as my updating goes.

Well, the powder has definately left for the season about 3 weeks ago. The snow has been melting pretty steady, but since we have such a nice base, its actually holding really well.

Last Saturday was probably the warmest day I've ever had though. The snow was grabbing my skis and making me feel like I was about to double eject, although the small line in the park was actually decent that day so I just sessioned that.

I can definately recall getting rained on a couple times including this just past saturday, but oh well, a little rain never hurt anyone.

Hellroaring is sick right now and closes this saturday :(. I enjoyed both Hellfire and the gulch down into the immediate bottom is fun.

The skier cross course was fun as shit to session and actually hit the rollers like jumps, they had a cool stepover setup. Im sure its down now cause Big never leaves up anything fun. :(

Alot of the mogul skiing is great right now. The park is fun for sure, i usually hit the pipe, then traverse over above the big jump in the small line and I enjoy that run.

Concept is wrong :).

We got 4 inches on the backside today, such epic groomer skiing. I got the P4s out and left my poles in the car and had a super sick hour or two on the backside.

The park is getting pretty worn ( need to rebuild takeoffs to the rails as of Monday), but the jumps look good. The pipe looked incredibly shitty, but that was probably from high temps. Needs a cut.

Things were a bit wet today. Go figure, all week while I was in school, it was bright sunshine, and then once I can ski it turns overcast and wet.

Once the 50ft step down was opened though, I was having a wonderful time. Keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow, and look for some outrageous style because I am taking it back as it is the last day for the Freestyle team.

It dumped 4 inches or so on the backside today, and lets just say you can get some face shots if you are in the know. Looks like a lot of people headed to the canyon tomorrow.

How was everyone's last day? I was bedridden today, with a high fever and all, bot hopefully the skiing wasn't bad for those of you that made it up there.

Today, like the last three days, was slushy and sick. The two jumps on the Inspo stepup are gnar, and lots of radness went down. For some reason, the Kalispell school district has Friday off, and so we are hiking up and sessioning them all day.

Thanks for a great season of ripping everyone.

Thanks for the props, people. There is now a massive hip onto the thing you jump up on the stepup, that comes in from the right side of that mound.

On Saturday, anyone who is interested in hiking/skining up to the stepup for a great booter session should meet at the McDonalds parking lot in the Mountain Mall at 10:00 am. We will wait around for a bit and then take off.

Ben, Robin and I hit up the mountain today. It was fun.

We parked at the top of 1,000 turns, then hiked to the top. We took a run down the ant hill, hiked up, skiied down under the chair, hiked up, made a jump off the left of the anthill and sessioned that. The jump measured in at about 70 feet, but there wasn't much kick. It was a sweet day, and I hope to get up there again.

dude where did u find that much snow at. i was staying in a condo up there all weekend and from the bottom everything looked extremely patchy

It's all on the back. Surprisingly, there's a lot back there. I bet you could ski all the way down to the bottom of 7. Even the ant hill had a ton of snow.
