Big Mountain 2006-parks/pow/discussion

yeah the hips lookin pretty sick, and the step down is starting to come along, i hit the hip pretty small once and it felt good, u could definately get some decent air off of it.

yea, there is a pic of it on the website right by the snow report, it looks wayyy sick!!

I cant wait for this weekend :)

I would link the pic but you cant do it with the way big mtn has site setup.

yeah, they were working on it yesterday, and they finished it up towards the end of the day, but still had it closed, but i was trying to get on the watertower to get some shots (although i was unsuccessful... -i think we're gonna bring a real ladder later this week) but anyways i hit it on the way down, and i guess its supposed to be open today, but i cant go up till tomorrow... and i think the step down should be done sometime in the next week

Went up today to sample the hip. That thing is fun, especially if you take it straight, because, you go about 60-70 ft laterally. I am afraid to spin because I don't want to end up in a tree.

you hit it as a table dave? sick! yeah i only hit i like 2 times today cuz i was busy building a ladder for the water tower, and then ski patrol got mad at us... oh and my friend built a SICk step up on inspo, id like to sess it like sometime in the next couple days and get some shots- let me know if anybody wants to do that

ski_K2pe was throwing some huge, smooth, stomped 3 mutes over the hippo this evening. Much props for the first ski spinnage with style and stomp.

Much craziness went down on the hippo today, so I got out the tapemeasure.

60ft to Knuckle

75 ft to Sweet Spot

80ft ish to Midlanding.

This thing is a beast, and You will fly.

^^^Thanks for the props. Lots of people are throwin' down on the popular new hip, and in the middle of it all, I took a couple pictures. Here is one of the better ones.

the hippo is quite fun. I just hope pretty soon we will be able to do some trains on that!!!!! Jokes, but someay maybe. Me and my buddy churd captured some film on it, ill try to upload it in a few days or so.

It's offical: I have seen way too much carnage on that jump. Somebody is going to end up as a parapalegic from moon dropping that flat landing....

today i saw a kid over shoot the hip and land flat on his back with his skis above his head. i thought it could have been a broken back but suprisingly he got up and skied away form it. i couldnt believe it.

yeah ski_k2pe was killin it on the hippo on friday, so cool, especially considering the dense fog. and then on saturday guddgulf busted such a cool 3 dub true nose, mad props for that.

yeah i decided to give that jump a try and like the first 10 hits went fairly good, half the time i was rollin down the windows, but i a got a couple good hits on it, then the snow started getting slower, and i was knuckling it sortof, so i went at it a lot faster, got off balance, and almost broke my back again.... if what dave was saying was right i probly landed about at the 80' mark on my ass and lower back, i didnt go up today, but i can still walk and i think ill be able to ride pretty soon again. but mad props to alex, dave and karl, theyre throwin down.

Yesterday was sick for sure, IT WAS FINALLY SNOWING AGAIN! woot. It sucked it was foggy though and the snow made it hard to ride in the park, for me at least.

The park was pretty soft for most of the day and then got hard at the end of the day. The pipe was NOT done yet like they said it would be, now they say Tuesday, we shall see.

Def give props to those jibbers boosting the big hip right next to all of those trees and shit. It's nice to finally have a nice big jump up there, people are def hungry for a big jump.

God i hate shin bang....

no more like 20 to 40 yds from where you get off the chair. Its kind of hard to explain.

Ok, ill try to do the best, you know that flat track that leads into home again? Well you start about halfway up that. Thus about 20 40 yds off of the chair. Then you just drop in from there, well at least that about where i do.

it seems like when i just go straight over i'm all out of control and rolling down the windows. But when i do threes i can stay more composed. still i prefer the hip after gapping it for a while because its not the smoothest table

i went up by myslef after school today and found some nice stashes. although in many places, there was ice and crust under the powder, there were still plenty of super nice freshies. backdoor was pretty untracked

haha yeah, its definately fun to mess around with in the park. by the way the three dub true nose over the hip, was AMAZING. sooo smooth. we should get some footy in the park and over the hip one of these days. some of us will be in bigsky this weekend, but we need to all have a good session sometime

went up again today. the park was smooth and there was some more good pow. a new step down was built before the hip, but the just didnt seem to have much lip and was hard to get spped for.

I went up today, and it was all right. The new step down is ok if you get the speed right. I found that I started at about the same spot where I started to gap the hip, so there should be some good line possibilities. The other three jumps were fun, and one of the park guys said the pipe will open tomorrow. The c box is in a new position, and it's kind of whack but sort of fun if you go fast enough. It's up on the hill, and kind of like a curving wall ride.

Most of the pow seemed skied out, but when the t-bar opens there should be some more good stuff out there.

Yea I went today, the pipe is really sick. Alot better than last year. It was absolutely dumping snow all day though and I got some great pow runs, its good to be soft again.

The jump line in the park is sick right now, landings are perfect. The cbox is changed too.

Went night skiing last night, park was slow due to lots of snow but Wood Lot was untouched pow. Couldn't believe how much you could still see at night without any lights.

The first jump on the large section of our park is pretty fun, probably about 50ft ish. Combined with the hip, this makes for a bit of airtime.

The pipe is pretty ghetto right now, with one wall undervert (read: massive deckage, every hit) and a bunch of powder in the middle. They are supposed to cut it tonight, so keep your fingers crossed.

The pipe was not cut as far as I could tell, but snow was added to the deck so that it can be vert when they recut it.

I was up over the weekend too, it was mad sick. I like the pipe and honestly, in my opinion, there isnt much undervert at all. Its cut pretty damn well for Montana standards. The big jump is sick too, its mad safe to which is nice, just have to mock at it. I saw a kid with a green siver coat and spks throw a nice cork seven. Is that guy on NS?

Although I did eat shit on the hip pretty bad on saturday, the landing was mad icy and somehow when I landed the snow just threw me on the ground, i swear it was the landings fault, not mine and now my shoulder is sore, but its not to bad lol.

I also got a lot of good steep tree runs in some secret areas. The fog has been bad lately though, but not to bad, and if you are a local, fog doesnt bother you :). The sun has been coming out alot lately for brief periods which is sick too. This last storm session that has hit has really covered up shit and made everything soft again, its great.

Damn you lucky people from Whitefish. The rails at the Whitefish skatepark are set up for skiing right now, and if you are looking to work on your rail steeze or trickery, the 20ft round raill will do wonders. I did a double switch up on it today.
