just my two cents here-
its not fair to the younger athletes today to say that people like Morrison and McConkey are better skiers because they can 'Put together the whole picture'
Maybe three years ago when straight legged switch backflips and regular backflips were cool, that statement might have flown. But to say that now is ridiculous. Sure by many peoples standards McConkey and Morrison are good park skiers, but in reality they can't hold a candle to the new younger riders. These days guys Like Olsson, Tanner, etc. etc are on an entierly different level in the park, on rails, and off backcountry jumps. A level that the best big mountain skiers have never been at, or more than likely will never be at. In reality they are missing just as much of the jibbing side of skiing as jibbers are missing from big mountain.
Not to say that Morrison or McConkey are bad skiers. Infact like you said, they are some of the best skiers EVER, just not for the reason you said.
Comparing Big Mountain to Jibbing a rail is imposible and a waste of time. They are two very different things. I think what you should do is realize that what these young kids are doing now IS great skiing. Just A DIFFERENT KIND of great skiing, that should be respected just as much as any other aspect of the sport.
end of story.
