Big jumps and little jumps

yea so at my mtn. there are wee jumps, medium, and three large ones. I can 3 and 5 the medium ones wich are like 25-30 feet ok. i can hit the big ones wich are 35, 45 and 50 feet. So like whats the difference between spinning the medium ones and the big uns? I tried to 3 the 50 footer once to impress my gf and i almost died. Also whats easier to do the first couple of times, a 180 or a 3? And how do you not go corked and stay straight up in the air? Thats what i suspect happened when i tried to 3 the 50 footer that i went unintentionally corked.

a 3 should be way easier off of the jump than a 1. it is basically the same thing only spin slower. be sure to pop off the lip good or you might go corked a little, get maybe a safety grab in to balance yourself out or something. spin slower, spot your landing and stomp it. shouldn't be too much harder than a 30 footer...actually it should be easier.

I agree the bigger the jump the more time to style it up and lay it out.. super fun. just get comfortable hitting the big jumps and get comfortable with the "air time" then just set your spin a lil slower.

Straight air it often enough until you feel comfortable, no matter what

other people throw or if your girlfriend watches. That counts for every

jump, be it the 20ish in the beginner line or the 70ish in the pro line.

Don't just hit it to impress people, specially when you where not skiing for some time.

I broke my neck 2 weeks ago being stupid enough to 3rd hit a 50ish with some switch spins...

If

you get into that feeling of "invincibility" and the day just

becomes sicker and sicker you'll never hit the 30ish ones again anyway.

personal preference, but I'd say a 3 is way easier than a 180 on a big jump. a 180 on a big jump and leaning too far forwards down the landing = massive whipback to head smash

mannnn you guys are effed if you think threes are easier than 1's?

like are you cereal?

1's are like a trick you'd do to speed check a 50fter...

If he's questioning his ability on hucking on a big jump, he probobly isnt super confident with his 180s and 360s. a 360 would be way easier, even if he lands backseat, he is still facing forward and knows where he is. I suggest just throwing it a little slower, but not too slow. You can always slow your rotation as you come around.

the beginning of this year i went to spin a three on  a 40 and went crazy 450 and landed straight on my shoulder, closer to my head than my feet. and it was just because i didnt pop off the jump and tried to spin too early. just get a good solid pop and dont try to spin too early

yeah but spinning slower is easier, plus with ones you just look over your shoulder and u can spot the landing the whole way

I disagree entirely. 180 on a 50 footer is scary as hell as you are still landing backwards on a big hit, so you've got pretty good speed, and you have to control the rotation and make it a lot slower so you don't overrotated, i'd much rather 3 it, but thats just me
