Big dogs versus little guys

After watching every trailer out there, I got a real feeling that this might be the year of the underground flick.

It seemed to me that the small guys really made a push to do something different. It makes sense, as there's so many movies coming out, its do something different or get lost in the mess.

I for one am claiming that one of the unknown companies puts out the movie of the year. Don't know which one yet, as I don't believe you can judge a movie by its trailer. :)

I really liked http://www.twoplank.com/video-shop/screenplay/ this one... don't know what it was but it really hit me.

All you little guys out there, keep fighting, and keep doing something different. The people who have been involved in skiing for too long are getting stale, this is your time to strike.

wow i thought that was really really sick. 2/3 of those shots would fit in bigger companies trailers. Its also rad because jesse hall went to the same high school i go to!

i like am films better, i don't know why maybe it's cuz i can relate to them more, atleast last season, the 05/06 pro ski vids sucked in my opinion (being extremely critical)

I like am films better too, the movies usually have lots more urban and id rather watch park skiing than people slashing pow

last year was the year i started buying more movies from the smaller companies and i really enjoyed them a lot better than a couple of the major vids like war n hitlist (christmas present, i didnt buy hitlist let that be known). re action was so much different than anything i have seen before, it was so sick.

this year im getting 3 vids from the big guns, photoplay skimatic and long story short, and i will probably get 4 from the smaller companies, ata, i hate ny, and im deciding from a couple others snowy delight, and hold your own are probably the ones i will get. i liked hold your owns trailer the best from the am trailers for this year.

but anyways im so stoked on the vids coming out this year, i think it will be the best year since the year 1242 n forward came out

I wonder what counts as an am movie maker, does Theory-3, how about Stept, MeatHead films, or I Hate NY. I mean where do we draw the line, what counts as an Underdog in this becuase it is no longer a few big companies and then a bunch of small ones ther are alot in between, And if you look at a companie I am sure alot of people will call and am film companie, OFS had a privet park jump shoot with a heli, but did Level 1 have any heli shots.

Apparently people like watching skiing that's relevant to what they're doing, as opposed to retardly highbudget helishoots on blue bird pow days.

Who would have thought people like watching the same type of skiing that they themselves do! Yay!

Screenplay is sick, this movie will blow you away. So many good segments from huge pros and the next big ones like John Scott. Put this one on your must buy list 4 sure.

everybody watch out for meathead films this year, every year they just get better and better

i change my mind, probably my number one am vid that im goign to get is content. that trailer is siiiiiiiiiiick

i completely passed over screenplay because i'd never heard of them, might have to get some copies into my shop now i've seen the trailer :D

I was looking through the list of snowboard trailers today and found that the most average and the most forgettable of the

snowboard trailers have higher production values and are, really, are just more interesting than a lot of the ski movie trailers that kids on this get

site get really excited about.

Doug said that he thought this year might be the year of the underground flick. I don't really think we're there yet. Yes, more and more kids are going out with their cameras and getting movies made, which is now and in the long run a wonderful thing, but that doesn't really mean that they are producing quality material. Only a few of the trailers that have come out this year have really stuck out at all in my mind, and maybe one or two of those were amateur movies. In the snowboard world on the other hand, of all the movies being released fewer and fewer companies are producing the typical movie that has become all to familiar to us.

A bigger industry is a big help to movie

production. As Doug said, more movies are getting made, so more people

realize that they have to do something out of the ordinary, and do it

well, to get people to acknowledge it. As we grow in the same way that snowboarders have, we're going to start seeing nicer shots, fresher ideas, and with work and faith, producing things that have some sort of beauty engrained in them. Whether that has happened this year; I don't think it has. But I do believe that it will happen soon, and I think it's fair to say that it will be the little guys who are the first to produce something beautiful.

What has recently happened in snowboarding and has started to happen in skiing is that people realize that making movies is not only a way to show off riding, but is an artistic medium that is brimming with so much potential. What may have started as competition will evolve into art, if we are only willing to take the steps to change.

As far as I'm concerned it already happened: Wicked was the movie of its year for me, and it, too, was very different from everything else out there.

looks SO SICK think thank has their shit together

I have a lot of good ideas for a movie. some that would require me to spend every day during the summer and fall inside my basement slaving away at coding and keyframing. I plan do to this in my upcoming film Welcome to the Anatomy, which should be out early 2010.

but as for next year, I will be working on NEON, which comes out either Fall 2008 or winter 2009, it really depends on how fast I edit it.
