Forget Facebook, MySpace or any other online hangout that boasts tens or hundreds of millions of people. Specialized social networking sites for athletes, boaters, knitters, skiiers and all sorts of hobbyists are hot. It's the same thing that happened to TV and magazines -- the big and the few breaking into the small and the many niche markets. full story

yay we bad it on the news as a website... go newschoolers......whoo hoo

did they specifically mention NS? or just big day because they are talking about popularity of sports related forums in general?

either way, it's good publicity.

I've never even heard of that skispace before..

Well, they chose to talk about Skispace but their community is "so" alive! That's probably because of shits like this why I love so much mainstream medias... some sarcasm about the love.

I crawled their photo gallery for only 30 seconds and I found stuff stolen straight from NS profiles and the noob who did that neither give credits to the skiers or photographers. He even got the good taste of posting sick Matrix Photoshop of himself and comment "crazy" on his own stuff :

Anyway, here is the original dude who did put those pictures online : Szczepan.Karpiel. This one is legit +1000.

I just read an article for my journalism class talking about the importance of social networking sites in the battle between Microsoft and Google to control online advertising. NS has to be right up there with the most active, tight knit and content enriched action sports networking sites on the internet.
