To cheap support an up and coming sport? I doubt it. They had more events for skiing this year than they have had any other. Plus big air gets stale very quickly. Slopestyle replaced big air to add variety and make it interesting. I dont know about you but I would much rather watch someone ride through a park using all the features as opposed to just hitting one jump. Plus the last jump athletes can still throw their money trick off of. Slopelstyle helps seperate the boys from the men. Boarders didnt have a big air this year either.

also to prevent the one huck wonders. The probably didn't want a line of meat wagons waiting to hall off the limp dreamers. This way only the true professionals of the sport are in the x-games and it is more exciting/technical. like someone mentioned before..the money kicker is the same as the big air and you can see more than one jump w/ slopestyle.

 
with big air you only need to be proffecient at one really bitchin jump--with slopestyle you need to have an all around ability on rails, tabletops, smaller kickers...etc...

 
All of the pro riders were actually stoked to be doing slopestyle instead of a big air this year. Slopestyle provides more opportunity to show the judges who's really the best rider, and more opportunity for the riders to put variety and creativity into their runs. The money booter at the bottom of the run was as big as any big air kicker anyway. The slopestyle and halfpipe events this year were definitely a big step up for skiing.

I think slopestyle is so much cooler than the big air....and they have a big hit at the bottom of the course, holy shit Cr johnson threw a bio 1080 and jon olsson threw a switch misty 9...slopestyle u get so much more

Yah slopestyle beats out big air any time....I never really liked big air...it was so boring...just a single jump...booooo..HAHHAHA. Slopestyle is teh future of skiing...that and pipe of course :)
