Big Air or Big Bust

Ok, so we can all say that this years big air was a little disapointing, or atleast not as good as it usally is. This is just my opinion, but did the "stylish" tricks kinda bore you guys? Like some of them were cool tricks, espaccally Henriks, but like Jossi's rodeo 5 made me feel like i was watching some lame park edit on here. Like don't get me wrong, some of these tricks were sweet but idk if I dig this slow spinning, stylish tricks in big comps. I'd rather see style brought into more techincal tricks than just rodeo 5's. Idk jus my opinion

lol chill, just me opinion :)

you'd rather see big spins over stylish tricks man, you're whats with wrong with comp skiing.

BRING BACK THE STEE!!

Why can't we combine the two? Do a triple with an interesting grab, and then a double with some extra spice. Appease both sides.

there was a triple within the first 5minutes, you're seriously telling me you'd rather see a hucked triple then a rodeo 5, which you clearly didn't like, but was probably one of the cleanest tricks.

aside from that, isn't that basically what you are saying you want. Some triples some kinda steezy dubs then some super smooth stylish tricks. sending a single rotation on a jump that size with loads of style is something I would way rather. I mean give them a break to do you see the snow and conditions, snowboarders couldn't even make it up the start of the pipe to drop in.

Im over this now, but there was so many triples this year, definitely enough spinning and flipping just because nobody flipped 4 times or spun 7 times doesn't make it a flop.

in in my opinion it was the best big air in years

I thought it was pretty disappointing because henrik could've fucked the comp scene but couldn't. He almost had that flat 1 which was next level "fuck you and your triples". And he was close to a dub misty 9. It was like a misty 5 to switch misty 3 and he almost could hold the rotation off but it go the best of him and he fell. But it was sooo dope and he couldn't quite get it. Also super disappointing how Vincent didn't learn anything. He was doing the same thing as the last two years but he almost added a 180 of rotation at one point. But couldn't even add the extra Octo grab that got him gold last year. Like he got worse? What? Just so much potential this year that didn't go off at least quite like I wanted...

I thought it was shitty how it ended, super anticlimactic. Should've kept the course hold on for longer... Everyone is doing straight airs, give them a couple more to get it good, then resume. Also when Henrik ejected, clock should've stopped. That extra time made it so only vinny could get one more run and they couldn't get to the top of the order again, which was fucking stupid.

All that said, that was the first big air comp I've really enjoyed watching in a while. Cool to see the trips but I also loved seeing the big floaty 5's and jossi's zero was glorious.

Side note I feel like winter x only invites jossi for big air because they know he'll do stuff like that and just throw floaty shit, so they can appeal to some of us. (Which I'm 100% okay with)

shut the fuck up op triples are mad gay besides henriks nosebuds and if there floaty then theyre still not that cool but are impressive fuck xgames with all this spinny shit i wish style was actually a part of these contests since its just turned into a huge fucking huck fest thats pretty stupid in my opinion

I got the impression that Jossi was doing small spins to spite the X Games producers for putting on such a serious comp in that kind of weather...

After the comp that bitch at the end was like "I think we could thank mother nature a little for the conditions" and I was just so puzzled how she has that job. Pull you head out of your ass lady, that was shit

eh i don't think so, he's done that the last couple years when he's been in the big air comp. i think its more of a "fuck future spins" thing

xgames has gone downhill. im sad. needs to get back to "doing it for the children" not the money and the views espn, pricks.

i'm still bummed they switched the format to finals only... ruined a lot of good competition, imo

For me, the puzzle is why exact same tricks could count as two scores? e.g. Elias's two triple 16 safety, and Vinny's bio12 genie.

Different grab I'm guessing, I dunno I didn't watch X games

All I can say with assurance is that Jossi threw the most beautiful rodeo 5 I've ever seen

Thank you, I would rather see that and a cork 5 and zero spin over spinning your body around like a food processor

There is no rule that says you can't do the same trick, typically though the judges wouldn't score the second nearly as high, maybe they were high? That, the comp goin in the snow conditions, must be illuminati

I sort of agree with you here dude, as damn cool as smooth "stylish" things are, I want to see people throw stuff in comps that they wouldn't thrown anywhere else, push the limits. For example, Henrik's rode 1 and Bobby's dub misty and cork to underflip thing were both super sick and things that I don't think we would have seen outside of comps. On the other hand, Bosch's trip 14 looked like he wasn't really pushing himself and Vink, while it was super unique, kind of did the same bio genie trick for a majority of his hits. I think if the conditions were better we would have seen people throw down harder both on the spin to win and the innovation ends. I feel like people have indoctrinated themselves in to the "big spin equal bad" cult without seeing how those tricks push the boundaries of skiing just like funky new axes and rose 1s do.
