Seems that in North America these events never manage to really become a thing.

I heard that they only hosted it in the first place because they had to tear up the field, so it made sense to host an event when it was not in use.

Sponsorship for these types of events is really difficult too. In Europe they have them all the time, and because skiing is so much more a part of mainstream culture there they have crazy events budgets.

This side of the pond its much more difficult. Whether or not the park was getting torn up those types of places are very capable of hosting things like this. You just gotta get enough sponsors and sell enough tickets to justify the absolutely massive scaffolding build and logistics that come with it.

This is essentially the major reasoning behind the event not returning. I have a close friend who works for polartec (the event's lead sponsor) and they said it wasn't worth the company's time.
