Feb 23rd, big air at Christie. We usually give a pair of publics to the top skier and a high end Burton to the top boarder. The comp will be held on the combo table on Rusty's park. Your choice of the 50' or the 60' takeoff. Freestylers Ball after the comp. Live bands, free energy drinks, and cheap booze for the elders. Last year a flatspun 10 won the skiers, and a backside cork 9 took the boarders. I'll get some pics of the jumps up asap.

If anyone knows of any bands or DJs that need to donate some time for a good cause, let me know. I've got a headliner for the after comp party, but i can't release the name until they've signed. This will be the first year for the party "Freestylers Ball" and I'd like for it to be a real event. We have the guys from COKE and No2 coming to throw a shitload of drinks out. HART ski reps and pros will be their to judge the comp. and demo equipment. And we have over a dozen sponsors giving prizes and free shit. One of wich is ROSSIGNOL freestyle department. Any other gimmes would be great. I think there is an NSer that has a clothing line? Hint hint. HA HA, only if its in the budget G.

The Parks open at 10am. The big air table will be open for practice until 12ish. We close it for touch ups and let it set up for about an hour. Comp begins at 2pm and usually goes until 330ish. Awards and Freestylers Ball start at 7pm and will go until it dies or 12am.

Holy hell the 60'er IS pretty big. From the deck the lip of the takeoff is honestly 16' tall. The gap is a true 61'4" and the landing is 120' long by 100' at the knuckle and 130' wide at the bottom. The Groms just came back with my 200' tape. Someone cased it hard so he blamed it on the length, saying it was longer then we have stated on the website. Dudes a tool.

Have there been any big air comps to speek of yet this year in the midwest? What takes the win in the midwest, difficulty or style?

deff 50/50...personally i LOOOOVVVVVVVVEEE style...when someone pulls something just so flawless it rocks

spin to win is no fun...

now a double flip would be cool to watch

Entrance in the comp is $10. Must be registered by 12pm. Must have at least 1 practice run on the competition jump. Must have a helmet during comp. Must have a liability release signed before entering comp. If you are under 18 years old you must have a release signed by parent or legal gaurdian. No inverted arials will be scored durring the comp. An inverted arial constitutes your head being below your waste at any point durring the trick. Cork is not inverted as determined by our insurance company. Usually only the blatent back or front flip is disqualified. Liability releases can be printed off of our web site at www.christiemountain.com . Feel free to mail any questions to me at christiemt@brucetel.net or mattvohs@yahoo.com . Hope to see alot of skiers at the comp.

Are other big air comps in the midwest held souly by the hill or are they sanctoined by others, like ski shops, or red bull or things like that?

If we get the crowd it sounds like we're gonna get it'll be best year yet. Glad I found out about NSers. You guys are all parks all the time.

There is a rail jam this weekend, though it is only for pride. Kind of a motivator for the grand jam that happens Sat. March 15th as a part of our spring carnival. That one has a list of prizes including park skis and board for the top finishers.

They have arrived, the top prize for big air skier are a pair of Silencers. The band for the Freestylers Ball is "Yours Truely".

OK, no sooner did i post the band for the freestylers ball and they dropped me to go play a gig in Florida. Sunshine chasin motha f'ers. Anybody got a quick fix for me with a band or DJ. I've tapped my resources.

Probably not, I didn't even know girls could compete.

I don't think the guys would feel too happy if they got their asses kicked by a girl.

You could proly straight air it and win with the correct attire. You show up and hit the jumps we'll find u a prize. If u help with the comp u get a free dinner.

The comp is set to start at 2pm. You could register any time before that with my ok, they'll just have to get a hold of me on the radio from the front desk. It would be wise to take at least one hit on each of the takeoffs before the comp though. In the past I have made exceptions and let latecomers get a couple of hits in while the jump is supposed to be closed.

The deed has been done. Andrew Kilner from coffee mill won the Silencers with a way corked out 9 over the 60'er. Didnt see alot of NSers out today, Wonder if a rail jam will entice this crowd a little more. Kudos to everyone that came. Big props to Horner for comin down to tape it, his crew competed and threw down.
