Beware of some serious corporate greed at Marker

Its been 16 years of unimaginable pain due to the top of the line racing binding that they deceided not to recall. They new about part of the binding failing where the heel and toe instantly separate with no warning whatsoever. The problem is in their Patent where they explain the failure and invent the solution. They never recalled the binding even though they knew about it and it's been a living nitemare every freakin day for me - streched neves in neck and 4 surguries...

GoTo MARKERBINDINGSWARNING.COM and see for yourself. Ski Safe and Have fun - please read the facts and make your own decision.................

so you have some kind of immobilizing neck injury due to marker bindings early release/ factory defects?

....sounds like you need a lawyer

Binding technology has advanced so much in the last sixteen years. Marker has established itself as one of the most refutable binding manufacturers in the world with their "Royal Family" series.

those are garbage too...

Honestly the purpose of bindings is to hold you in. Skiing is a dangerous sport. It was you who fucked up and fell, not marker.

lets just say, i would feel safer skiing down on dukes over dynafits. so from a touring standpoint, the and climb fine, and hold you in better then others. but no way would i ever use them as a daily binding

you were using these?

That's the point. The bindings DID NOT hold him in. He fell after they broke and was seriously injured.

Pre-release is exactly the reason myself and a friend of mine stopped skiing markers. Sure you can get hurt and tear an ACL if you fall and the bindings don't release. But if you are on expert terrain and the binding releases you can get severely injured or die.

"A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one. "

noone uses these bindings anymore.... i like my griffons they are light and ive never prereleased in them.

Markers have pretty much sucked right up to the Duke/Griffon/Jester days. When I was a tech, Marker was the only binding I ever had fail testing on me. Great concept for clamps (back then), but poor quality. To this day I won't touch a Marker, nor any ski that has the Marker hostage plates.

so your warning us about a 16 yearold binding that no one uses anymore? if your insinuating that the bindings they have now are prone to stuff like this than i completely disagree. more than 80% of racers in nh at the j3 and j2 level use marker 16.0/20.0 bindings. youd think with some general probability, the number of times those racers run courses on those bindings there would be at least 1 malfunction and i have not heard of any.

im not saying i love marker bindings and they are the best. i dislike using marker on non-race skis (other than their new royal family) because i dont think they are fit for freestyle. but i dont think its fair to bash on a company for a problem in a 16 yearold binding

I think you're missing the point - he's BEEN IN PAIN FOR 16 YEARS, meaning it didn't happen last week with a 16 year old binding.

The fact that Marker had an issue with this binding that they failed to acknowledge is the issue. ONE issue or 100 - it shouldn't matter. If it had been YOU, I'm sure you'd be singing a different song, my friend.

80%? Not with the numbers of racers on Head/Fischer (Tyrolia), & Rossi (Look/Rossi). Better back that up some how... Sounds like you're reaching a bit.

will one of the binding gurus help me understand this? if the royal family is complete garbage and you are increasing you chance of death or serious, career ending, injury every time you clamp into them, why is their team stacked? it cant be money because those guys wouldnt risk their careers or lives just for a little extra cash, plus they could get any bindings sponsor in the world that they wanted to pay them the same. if the royal family was really so dangerous and poorly made, would these guys really take that risk and use them?

(wont let me clicky)

first of all those bindings are old as fuck second of all even though they are old i have heard nothing but good things about the marker turntables

you should have used something other than a rear diff...

do you even know what that is? or did you hear it on tv?

This thread was not originally about that line of bindings. Read the whole thread next time. Obviously nothing wrong with those.

oh the irony....i suggest you heed your own advise and read the thread, then kindly stfu and simultaneously gtfo. and since when arent threads allowed to talk about closely related areas of concern? 2x in this thread the royal family, or parts of, was called garbage, and i want to know why.

but... it made him look like an idiot...

now if he said that the cars brakes failed, the e-brake failed, it was impossible to shift and the accelerator stuck, hed have an argument.

yes, but it pertained to previous posts in the thread. if your gonna try and call me out for responding to a topic brought up by someone in thread other than the OP you had better call the prior offenders out first.

thats oh so clever. stay away from this guy folks, he throws low blows.

and besides, since when arent threads allowed to stray off topic from the OP? please inform me when this change was made

Dude you really need to shut your fucking mouth. You really dont know what your arguing about and you really dont know how your arguing too.

And dude once again your an idiot. Funny thing how Marker is the number 1 bindings company in the world. Dont come here and cunt up this guys thread and make bullshit remarks if you dont know what you are talking about. Marker is by far the most durable and dependable binding made. Learn your facts first.

I wouldn say most durable and dependable... id say its up there.... but the fact the that only the comp binding goes above 18...
and they dont make wide brakes for the comp.... So if you have a fat ski and want a higher din than 16 marker suck.

learn somethin new everyday, with the explosion of fat skis you would think they would make WB for most all their bindings.

but in all reality, most people dont need a din above 16. hell, doesnt seth uses 916's?

Well look at all the threads going on right now in BST. 85% of the skis that are being sold have either jesters/griffons/or schizo's on them. Pro's ride them. New skiiers ride them. Hell everyone rides them. Thats why they are the most recommended ski binding when people ask "uh what bindings should I get"

Pivots are good. But so is Marker.

Whatever you say, man.

BTW - tell me again cuz I can't remember...how many years were you a tech? I forget. I wroked three seasons in a shop - pretty much nothing but mounts & tunes. But I guess I can't have an opinion in your world.

OK...continue with your adolescent insults. I can take it.

Get off of NS. How do I know that you were actaully a tech. And even if you were, you were a sure retarted one. FUCKING JONG!!

you just keep diggin your hole deeper...."buttercup". maybe you should go back to being a shop tech because your brain obviously doesnt understand the simple concept of hypocrisy. i may not know the most about bindings, never claimed to, but at least i know my position on a topic....'buttercup"

god damn i love the irony

Jong, eh? Oh...ouch...

You'll have to take my word for it, and I have no reason to lie about it. I worked at a base area shop from 1997-1999, along with teaching at the same area from 1993-1996. I still do mounts in my spare time for people (friends) who need it, which sure makes it handy having Sali, Tyrolia, and Look/Rossi jigs in my basement. I only take payment in beer though. You probably aren't old enough to buy that yet however. If you need my resume, I'd be happy to send it. If you need a good tech, call me.

BTW - It's spelled "retarded".

Continue your little tirade. This is fun. I love your mastery of CAPS LOCK. Well done! I plan on sticking around...until you kick me off of course.

First off you came in here and started arguing over something that really dident need to be argued about. Second off you only get paid in beer? Thats nice so your a drunk tech, really wouldent want you mounting my skis. And third, what are you like 40? Go back to your family, I think your bitch ass girlfriend wants you.

Hypocrisy? How? Please...I'm all ears.

You and your little pal are quite entertaining though. I haven't had a high school fight in nearly 20 years.

please guy, whats your education? and yes, i am old enough to buy beer. i am also senior in one of the most respected forestry programs in all of north america.

Hypocrisy....you criticize VM for his childish insults, yet a few posts up you called me "buttercup". again, the irony....please stop...my sides are going to burst. but really, gtfo k thanks
