Between avalanches and park accidents, do you think skking is the most dangerous sport?

It's definitely up there. But something like base jumping or mountain climbing or big wave surfing would be a lot more dangerous with bigger consequences to messing up I'd think

i'd say big wave surfing is up there. getting thrown into a coral reef with who knows how many gallons of water crashing on you isn't too safe.

soccer is above hockey, and horse riding is above god damn bull riding. credibility lost.

Hahahaha.

Skiing is definitely up there on the dangerous list. I am always worried about getting severely injured skiing, even when driving up to the hill, especially since so many people lack the common sense it takes to drive on a two-lane road. You never know what's around the corner and that scares me.

yeah i hear that, theres some hymalayan rapids that are just scary to look at, with huge holes that will hold you down forever, even with life jacket and buoyant kayak

I've said this a few times now but I don't see wy big park types aren't rockin full face helmets yet. What we are doin is def on par with FMX if not even worse considering some of those monster cliffs.

Think of how many people participate in the sport of skiing each year, then think of how many are hurt or killed.

What makes it "dangerous"? Are you talking fatalities or injuries? are you talking at a pro level, recreational level, all levels?

You think it's dangerous because when someone dies skiing, you hear about it.

If you were involved in other sports, you'd be more open to the dangers in them as well.

Are you kidding me?! Quidditch is much more dangerous... But on a serious note I am very sorry about Sarah B. But I bet she would say the same thing as my dad."If I die from falling off a chairlift, you don't have to petition for seat belts on chairlifts, don't make it boring for he rest of you."

in hockey (and really many other sports) people are overly cautious about concussions, yet in MMA they encourage people to knock each other out. it does not make sense

I hate to bring up such a sad and tragic accident. It ends terribly so you dont have to watch.

But this is one of the reasons why I think luge is a bit more dangerous.

Jousting is definatley the most dangerous sport so be a man and ride a majestic steed and joust!!! Skiings not too bad as long as u dont be a dumbass

I watched something recently on base jumping. It has so many deaths that it is illegal in some countrys. Some crazy ass shit.

I'm sure those illegal underground fighting leagues are more dangerous.

When I was in Bankok, I saw a midget almost lose to 5 roosters deathmatch with no time limit. Seeing that little guy swing a half dead rooster at the other ones made me indescribably happy.

The only thing that topped that was a few days later. It was a 5 round, reffed fight between a guy with no arms and a guy with no legs. Leggy had a hard time getting inside, and despite lying to the ref and fighting through a broken ankle, he was able to choke arm dude out at the end of the 3rd round.

ha we used to troll the shit out of the cheerleaders in high school when they said that cheerleading was the most dangerous sport in high school. i would always say that golf was because you could easily get hit in the face with a club if you weren't watching where you were walking...they never thought that was funny after about a solid 10-15 minutes of arguing that cheerleading wasn't a real sport

Uh...

Skiing is nowhere near BASE fatality rates. I don't know why you think that or where you got that from, but it simply isn't true.

I bet there is actually more skiing deaths than BASE deaths, purely due to there being far more skiers than BASE jumpers, but I am certain that BASE has much more deaths per participant, probably up there with high altitude mountaineering in terms of danger.

NY, verrry far away from fights like that. They were unbelievable, but in arenas like that, everything is so fucked up that I feel bad cheering for either side. Great fighters that can follow rules can make it to the worldwide stage, but the not-so-good fighters that hate rules end up kicking roosters in the basement of a t-shirt factory.

This. Given how many people ski versus how many fatal injuries there are, skiing is not the most dangerous sport.

This is probably up there. There are not many people that do it and a lot of them get hurt. Seems kind of dumb to me though.

The only reason soccer is considered more dangerous than hockey is because of the significan amount of people who play it compared to hockey.

This. Even non-BASE skydiving is more dangerous, with more deaths per participant and time in sport than nearly anything else. I know three people from my DZ who've died in the last 5 years. Cave and wreck diving is up there too.
