So iv been into photogrophy for a long time and i want to move into shooting some vids. Unfortunetly i spent alot of my money on camera stuff so i dont have much to spend on a video camera. SO what would be the best cameras to start looking at in the 400-550 price range?

my old man just bought a panny hardrive cam, it was around 599 cad, shit looks pretty decent, though i think harddrive would suck for skiing

Each ccd is only about half the size of a normal 3ccd camera. but they are still really nice. Panasonic makes good cameras because they dont take away alot of features just to make the camera easier to use. My sony doesnt have a manual focus dial on it. I gotta go through the menu's to change it, it sucks. but on that one, you can change it on the lense, so much nicer. Hard drives are nice though for skiing. The shock on tapes can hurt footage if your going to take the camera off jumps. hard drives are resiliant to the shock (if you have the option turned on through the menu).

No. You can't focus with that ring you see on the gs-320. It's just for taking the lens "hood" off. You have to use a joystick to manual focus which is hard.

I would not suggest a hard-drive cam. they compress the raw footage on their hard-drives. it makes the quality lower and the editing harder. the mini DV is by far the best action system for the price range given.
