I am going to be out in Utah next weekend at the U of U and have a day to go and ride. What resorts are open, have the best terrain available, number of runs and where would anyone from Utah recommend going?

depends what you are looking for if you want just terrain id say snowbird but brighton has great terrain and sweet park

Agreed, the bird would be okay but Brighton is a great mountain and probably the place you’d ride if you went to the U

PC might have a full park with a jump open by 12/9. Even with this most recent storm, the natural snow base at all the resorts is really low, so bring rock skis if you're trying to ski off piste.

but pc is also quite pricy compared to brighton

No, 'most of brighton' is not open, Milly and great western have the best terrain and are not spinning. However, all Utah resorts are struggling to open terrain and even alta/bird are probably not much better right now. They do have a small early season park up as does PC, but this year's start has been especially warm and slow unfortunately and it is showing

Go to Alta they have the most good terrain open rn. Also if you want to meet up and RIP/Talk about the school (I assume you're on a college visit) just shoot me a PM.

No they don't.

Cottonwoods got about a foot of snow on top of inches. Everything off piste is gonna be full of rocks, logs, stumps. We aren't suppose to get any snow for a couple weeks, so park and grooms are basically your only options. PC is gonna open their full park run in the next day or two I'd say, no idea when brighton will have a full park run.

So would you go to Park City or Brighton?

I would just check in again before you get here, i have skied at brighton this year, but it looks fun. PC will likely have more park and more runs open because they have much better snowmaking than brighton, but PC is more expensive, not sure if that matter for you or not.

Can confirm it's a foot on top of nothing. My homie came up short on a backie & bashed his knees in on a rock. It's not deep so be careful.

I've been horribly misinformed about the actual condition of the snow. It is indeed thin as hell friend just cored his new planks.

If you want one-star skiing go to snowbird. If you want 5-star skiing go to Alta.
