While this thread is going on, I think I will be heading to Michigan State next year. Any other NSers heading out there next fall?

Supposed to be going to Ryerson in Toronto this fall but been considering taking a year off and applying to another school in Canada with some good riding nearby. I know Blue and Louis aren't too far from the city but still looking for something closer to the school I'm gonna be going to. Anyone have any experience with schools that have some good skiing or even a ski/board club?

Im a VP of SFU Vancouver's ski club we get reasonable deals at Seymour, Grouse, Cypress and Whistler... currently sponsored by sandbox/pitviper/landyatchz/jager/jack and some others.....I payed 800 all in for a Whistler and Seymour pass and logged over 30 days inbounds not counting backcountry. The community is unreal too lots of boys/girls that are super into it. We have a ton of events including organizing a private course to get your avalanche training with other students. On top of this we have weekly seymour trips as well as yearly trips to Revelstoke, Whistler and a backcountry hut trip to elfin lakes as well. Honestly great time lots of parties/events outside of skiing.

This is what I've been looking for was seriously debating doing to SFU just for the fact that it's in Vancouver but if the ski and board club really is that good I'll definitely need to try and apply. Thanks for the info!

Sierra nevada college. Your welcome.

Maybe or maybe not unfortunate for OP but SNC is clearly not in Canada and while I agree the location is good it's also a tiny private liberal arts school that costs $50,000/year.

Also that word, liberal arts, I do not think it means what you think it means. Do you realize you can get a ba in business there? How exactly is it a liberal arts college if it ckearly provides professional degrees like that?

Did you actually take the time to read the thread? OP is looking to stay north o' the border so the suggestion is kind of irrelevant.

I'm aware SNC offers a variety of degree programs, that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a tiny, expensive, liberal arts college.

Expensive for you

I currently go to UBC Vancouver, as said before we can get a pretty cheep student pass to whistler through the ski and board club (~$600) and we are super close to grouse, seymour, and cypress. I have a Y2Play pass for grouse, which is $280 if you buy in spring, and lets you ski the rest of that year and all of the next year. Grouse has a decent park, and night skiing so going up after a couple morning classes is easy.

There's a great community here through the ski and board club, always people to ride with and easy to find a carpool up to the mountains. I'm an officer of the club, and a member of the freeride team, and we hold a lot of parties and a few solid ski trips each year. There are weekend trips to the interior, and some local backcountry booter seshes that are sick if you keep involved.

I also saw a question about housing, which on campus is about $800/month for most 1st year residences. Price of upper-year residence can go up a bit, but most people choose to live off campus after 1st year. Off campus isn't bad on price, most student houses are $700-$900 and there are a lot of options to be on the lower end of that.
