Best tree skiing on the East Coast?

true, we had a little storm that dumped like 10 inches in october and the trees still had all there leaves and it it knocked off power to 95% of hartford county. there trees/powerlines down everywhere. too bad i couldnt get to my local mountain haha
 
Not sure about best, but I've fun times with Mont Ste. Anne -- La Foret Noire had some decent spacing, and soft snow when I went in March. Though I wouldn't hit up MSA if you're looking for park, Stoneham has a better setup.

Also had a blast in Whiteface with Cloudsplitter to 10th Mountain division, but I've been lucky with snow in the past.
 
Jay Peak hands down, the powder days make it insane and on a good year (not this one), they come really often
 
when i was in dc this one time, it rained really hard, and there were puddles, and the grass was wet, and i saw the cherry blossoms so i ran real fast and slid on my skater boy shoes down the slushy grassy hill through the cherry blossoms and went over a little bump and got some air then stopped on the walkway.

Ye man, that storm sucked, I don't even think the mountains in CT opened from that, so we had no power and no skiing.
 
Jay peak for sure

This year has been terrible and I still have had three great days in the trees there.
 
If you want some good pow, go to Mt. Washington...6800ft elevation, hike up to the top and do one of 4 (I think) ski descents back down to the tree line.

Make a weekend of it, my step-son and I did the trip last year...It was a weekend of ice climbing, rock climbing, mountaineering, and pow pow skiing.

I'd say either Jay or Stowe have the best trees (Stowe has the better terrain, but Jay gets the better snow...normally), but Sugarbush is right up there with them.

But, sadly, this year, no where will have good trees as of right now...this winter sucks.
 
Anyone ever been to Saddleback Maine or heard of it? The Casablancas are incredible. After any new snow at all, they are amazing. It takes about 20 minutes to get down and it's so fun
 
not multiple mountains, but multiple faces on the same mountain.

- Carinthia is all park (left side of the mountain)

- The Main Face is mostly groomers with some trees (middle of the mountain where the new bubble lift is)

- The North Face is the steeper face, bumps, trees, ect. (right side of the mountain), if you want tree skiing at Mount Snow, you go there...get to the top of the mountain and go as far left as you can, you'll end up at a section with two identical lifts right next to each other, those lifts service the North Face.
 
Smugglers is on the same mountain as stow but it faces north so thier are less tourists from new york because its harder to get thier and it colder so it holds its snow for longer, ivenever been to jay but i hear its got great trees, smugglers is the only place in the eastcoast that i hve been too that gets six inches over night on a semi reguler basis
 
At the beginning of the year Saddleback's glades were absolutely amazing, but you probably won't find those conditions anywhere this year.
 
This is the only place ive skiied tree's, but i'd say the northface is a lot better than what i was expecting/probably what you will too
 
Well for having some serious steeps and nobody there, Magic has got to be on the list. Greak skiing, closer by several hours and nobody there. Can't fuck with that for a pow day!

 
jay, mad river, and if there's snow and you are with someone who knows where they are going, bolton muhfuckin valley, snow on a monday=freshies til saturday
 
Had one sick pow day at massif (quebec) on jan 20. Had pow over my knees the whole day + sick backcountry section there. Best skiing I had in like 5 years.
 
all these avalanche stories on the news are freaking me out haha. I can't go to Canada sadly, northeast is my limits pretty much.
 
Jay Peak, Mad River Glen (from what I hear), Mt Sainte Anne, Le Massif

But mostly Jay... most snow in eastern north america
 
Lots of good hills mentioned above. Check out Sutton in Quebec, not too far from Montreal..

Great glades when there's snow of course.
 
When the storms are lining up for Southern VT, nowhere delivers the goods better than Magic.
 
tremblant has some great trails on versant sud (south side). they have usually had enough snow to cover it, i dont know about this year though
 
Cannon is legit. A bit of hiking, but you can go on either side and in the sick glades. Saddleback wasn't that great any of the times I've been
 
bush, jay, mrg, and magic. yeah its not the best winter but the trees at the bush are still super fun this year. after this past weekend sugarbush and mrg picked up 4-5 inches. It covered all the bare spots and the lower elevation trees at sugarbush were so nice today. Yeah they have been skied out but it got pretty warm and sunny today so it was soft. probably one of my better days this year.
 
sugarloaf in maine looks dirty with their new expansion. cant speak from experience but i wish i could. but as always on the east it has to be a good year so maybe next season...
 
Magic, MRG, Jay.

I haven't had a chance to ride Bracket at the Loaf yet, they definitely have some great glades aside from that zone.
