Best Terrain Parks in the US

If you’re doing eastern pa def go to blue mountain instead. Big Boulders park got needed after vail bought them. + Blue supposedly built a top to bottom terrain park run in dream weaver this season.

I've never been to any of them but they're probably the top three that look the most fun. Why did you get arrested

full story?

Didn’t buy a lift ticket. They plotted and called the ops and then escorted me to the office lol.

was gunna make a new thread but figured I’d ask here instead. I’m moving from CDA ID to somerset PA. What are the best parks within an hour of there. Obviously 7 springs would be my first choice but it’s 5 hours away.

7 springs is only 30 mins from Somerset

I like to shit on springs a lot but this season they’ve had a consistent fun setup in their long park, The Alley. Lap nonstop all day kinda fun.

pine knob and sugarbush look so fun. Timberline in May looks like a dream as well

Pine Knob deserves to be in the discussion.

Really impressed with Pine Knob's setup the last few seasons. They do so much with so little space. Can't beat a good jump line serviced by a rope tow.

I'm gonna lean on Mammoth, purely because of jump size.

What about west mountains 100 footer from a couple years back? Ill find a pic. Also im joking about adding this in the list. But ill look for a pic.

I personally ski Woodward Copper in Colorado and it is my favorite. Just looking for opinions and why you think your park stands out!

Woodward Mt Bachelor. It's sweet and nobody home there!

ok I haven't actually been but I would think that bachelor is in the upper part of the list, lemme know if I'm a dipshit

No dipshit! Check out Woodward Mt Bachelor Real Laps.

Mammoth is pretty sick, and I’ve really been feelin the stuff bear/snow summit has put together this year which has allowed me to progress a ton.

Apart from that, I wanna give a huge shoutout to Chris Meyer (@jibmasterchris on ig) who’s over at Woodward Tahoe now. Originally starting skiing his stuff at Telluride and then he was at mammoth for a while, but holy shit everything that man touches turns to gold. Super talented and creative guy when you put him at the wheel of a snowcat.

I just checked his Instagram. I think I’m in love!!

PC gotta be top 5. Was just out there last week after they opened Pick Axe (their prog park) and it was so dope. Main park is definitely not for beginner park skiers, with even their progression features being made difficult (flat tube has a cannon ball on one side you gotta swap around), but build quality looks like the damn X-Games. Plus the lift ride is so short, hot laps were insane.

Also gotta show love to Northstar. Probably the most features I've ever seen in a park when they have a good snow year. I was blown away. Their main rail line seemed endless. The ultimate progression park imo, as the main rail line starts TINY and gets pretty massive near the end. Only had one day there but have been dying to get back!

Three best parks in North America in no particular order are Woodward Copper, Mammoth and Whistler and no one comes close. Breck and Keystone used to be sick till Vail fucked them. Park City is dope and yes people will say that PC is on the same level but no way. The park run is really short which is good and bad; for hot lapping it's great but they just don't have a ton of features like the other spots plus they cram features real close. Some people prefer this but it's all preference. I would say PC and Aspen Snowmass are a step below the top 3 but they round out the top five. Winter Park should be in the top 10 and then from there is gets difficult.

I've been to most of the notable mountains in the U.S when I was living in my van so I would throw up Telluride, Bear mountain (but just for park), Brighton, Carinthia, Woodward Killington, Loon, and maybe a spot or two in Tahoe. Two spots I haven't been to that were mentioned are Mt Bachelor and Seven Springs. My opinion is based on the quality and the amount of features, how creative the park is, how often feature's get changed and switched around so the park stays fresh all season, and the different sizes of features such as medium, large and XL features. Would like to hear others opinions and some places I didn't mention.

Woodward Tahoe is amazing this year. Boreal is completely embracing the park scene and it's so cool to have a hill like that in Tahoe. The features are so creative and unique compared to everything else in town. Each year it gets notably better and better. If Chris Meyer is the guy to thank, I'd be happy to buy that dude a beer

Bachelor changes up stuff quite frequently. I'll do a tour video from time to time, but it all changes quickly in the rail sections.

Maybe one day you will bring it. Nice post.

Can mainly only speak on east coast parks but the few times I’ve been to Brighton the vibes were all time

Carinthia, sugarbush, loon. Carinthia’s jumps are always mint, and if you like down rails then that’s the place. Noticed a ton of step downs this year as well

Was at sugarbush the past 2 days and their setup this year is sick, lots of potential for super creative lines. More jibs than jumps for sure

Sunapee nh is slept on I think. Not sure how the setup is this year but last year it was mad fun, separate triple too and a good assortment of features & jumps

Best post

After reading through, with no opinion of my own, I compiled every comment into a word processor to see what the most mentioned words are. After filtering a bit, people seem to care about these the most:

Good features

Woodward

Progression

Long Lines

Creative

Everything

Change things up frequently (just an observation not part of the count)

Personally, the biggest thing I've noticed between good and bad parks is the flow. Some parks naturally have great flow between features, your balance and speed coming out of one sets up for the next, etc. Everything feels similar and smooth. Bad parks will have you speed checking a lot, skating a lot, some lips are way too poppy and others are flat and stale. In my experience and based on this thread, it really seems like Woodward has it figured out, between Copper, Eldora, Boreal, Brighton, PC, and Killington (am I missing any?) they all made this thread. In my experience, the ww parks I've skied meet all of the criteria listed above.

Yea this was my first season being on the east in the past five years since I'm usually in Utah or Co in the winter. Corona messed up my job/current work as I work in the restaurant industry mainly in the winter. Working outside isn't fun in the cold ass temps so I do that the rest of the year haha. I'm going to be driving out west in mid to late March so hopefully if things work out I will take a trip to the PNW in April, Mt Bachelor looks sick especially in the spring time. Since Woodward is working with you that helps a ton too since they care and are willing to put effort into making quality parks. If I make it out your way I'll let you know!

From out of all the resorts i've been to (which isn't many), Loon has the best park. There's 3 different parks and has lots of different features for different skill levels. LMP jumps have always been on point and flowy and they're rail setups are really well made

This, not sure how it is this year either but years past it has had a great park. Feels like its own little mountain with the chair lift right in the middle of the park and giant speakers in the trees.

Wait holiday has a good park this year? I gave up on their park this year and haven’t been yet just hitting pk n pk. Def hitting it soon!!

14242885:WoFlowz said:
I normally hate Holidayvalleys parks but they built some decent sized jumps for our hill and stacked our rail park plus threw in some hips and volcanos and stuff. Plus both are right next to each other and it’s serviced by an express that takes maybe 2 minutes to get up because it’s like 500ft of vert. Not to mention it’s too to bottom. Honestly I just really like the convenience and the fact the rail park is stacked with features

Yeah we got a 2 pack soon to be 3 according to the park crew on moonshadow, and 20ish rails in fiddlers, 2 jumps and a hip a volcano thing with a ball onto. It’s pretty sweet the park crews been hard at work this year. Peak looks great and kb this year

I'm surprised I haven't seen Bear Mountain mentioned as much. I know its more of a snowboarder resort (at least in the park) but I remember watching the ON3P team vid there and they had some cool stuff. Can anyone weigh in on their park from a skier's perspective?

idk any other towns named Somerset besides this one in PA but if that’s not it then it probably is 5 hours away

Thought I mentioned it but maybe not. Been skiing there a lot this year. Super fun park rn and lots of progression to be had. I love how a good chunk of the whole mountain is just park after park. Snow summits been pretty solid as well.

Please don't come to Bachelor with a $299.00 spring pass. Parks are awesome, but ice to slush will kill you, then you will end up out of state in the ER at St. Charles hospital!

The Point rails garden will be even more terrifying!

Hey man you rock! Wish I could get videos like this of more mountains! Do a lot of people there recognize you?

Somerset is right at the bottom of the hill from springs like 15 minutes, and the parks have been pretty kick ass this year especially the alley. The rope park is hella fun but they let it get stale forsure, they need to let it grow to full potential.

Alley is super sick but it’s a pain in the ass to lap when it’s lift isn’t on, otherwise the lift ride is like 8 minutes versus 5, and you have to ski further to get back down to the park.

Yea. I try to wear different Onsies all the time. I have like 101+ of them now, but I think it's my two orange helmets that are the give away. Some just recognize my voice.

Then I just give love and peace back and maybe a "Workin' It!" decal.

Whiteface parks is underrated. Broadway to brookside laps are always fun, especially if you wanna take the long gondola ride and hit some glades on the way to the park.
