post which state in the US you think is the best and give a reason for your decision. At the end of 5 pages the best US state will be determined.
 
Mass, perfect climate(usually), Boston is a smaller version of NYC, the cape is a great vacation spot, we have 2 great sports teams(Sox and Pats) and its close enough to good skiing up north
 
colorado-

it has thousands of acres of skiable snow.

it has silverton.

good colleges.

the denver/boulder metro area.

300 days of sunshine a year.

year round skiing on st. marys glacier.

most of all- its got ass loads of mountains
 
New York. Good climate, biggest and most important city in the world (argueably), has skiing and beaches, has urban and rural areas, goes from canada to new jersey. New York has almost everything any other state has but more
 
Washington has seattle (huge business district while NY has one too) which is smaller, so more local. Much friendlier atmosphere. Less racism.

Has beaches and bigger mountains than NY will ever have.

WA also has a hot area and a rainy area. It basically owns all states.
 
definitely a state on the west coast. It would be either Washington because it's chill and relaxed, amazing skiing, same for Oregon but the skiing's not as good, or California because it has warm sunny beaches, big towns, and good skiing too.
 
i lived in new york for 13 years, why should i trust you? i have been living in colorado for 4 years, honestly i like new york more.
 
never been there but i think it has to be california. it just has endless possibilities. it has good skiing, and then it also has great weather in so cal. it has alot of cities that i think would be great. only downside i see to california is that its so close to mexico, so theres probably alot of immigrants
 
Your an idiot to say that, because for THOUSANDS, maybe even millions, of years the Adirondacks were the largest mountain range on this earth, which is more than you can say about the mountains in Washington.

Have you even been anywhere besides Washington for any amount of time? I think you'd have to atleast visit 10 or more states to have a valid opinion on this subject.
 
i agree 100%. add to it that new york has history. the states on the west coast wernt settled until nearly 100 years after new york became a state. we were an important player in the making of this country which makes us a much better state to have pride in.
 
Where in New York did you live? I've been in Albany for the past 12-13 or so years and it sucks. I've liked every place I've been to for 10+ days much better than here.
 
Ballston Spa/Malta. I dont remember liking NY when i lived there but i really miss it and realize how much ass it kicked now that i have been in co for a while
 
California-we have the best weather and among the most variety in environments, from mountains to deserts to forests of all kinds and 7-800 miles of beaches and good surf. We have two of the US's most important and influential cities (SF and LA), both urban and rural areas, we have Tahoe and Mammoth, we have some of the best agriculture in the US but also have hotbeds for technology/science (SF has all the stem cell research, Silicon Valley, and all the work the UC's do). Ya, I would say California is the best.
 
Cali is good because of its diverse climate but it has San Fransico and other places where people are weird.

I would go with Colorado because of the amount of ski areas, colleges, cities, climate, and diverse terrain.
 
It depends what you want...

Alaska for outdoor life, because they have ridiculous terrain, and so much of everything. If you want it, you can find it and hike, ski, climb, etc. it.

I think the Boston area would be good for raising a family, mainly because the education in the area is so sick, and there is a relatively varied climate for such a small area.
 
i change my vote to Hopkinton

we are a smallish kinda rich town in Eastern MA(for now), and i will become mayor one day. When i become mayor of Hopkinton, i will secede from MA and we will become our own state, so vote Hopkinton for the best state in the USA
 
this is a stupid fucking thread. its all opinion. i highly doubt anyone on this site has been in ny as long as i was then in colorado as long as i have been. its not the kind of question that has a right or wrong answer. its all opinion
 
If this thread is simply a matter of opinion (which it is) then Washington could compete with NY. However in any quantifiable sense NY blows the lid off of Washington. In fact, Manhattan alone makes Washington look about as useful as a icecube in the tundra.
 
like you said it is a matter of opinion. Me personaly i dont like big cities so i would not go with new york
