Best start up camera

I've been interested in filming for a while now and I've been looking for a good camera for filming mountain biking, skiing, etc. I've been filming my friends over the past year with my moms old camera (Nikon s9300) but I'm looking to buy my own. I don't know a lot about cameras so I'm looking for a user friendly camera with good video quality (720p or 1080p)but not too pricey. Any feedback would be great!

Gopro hero 3 black or later, spectacular video quality if you color correct. Nikon s9300 would be great if you're looking to shoot pics, much better than a gopro (especially if you learn manual exposure). But a gopro kills the Nikon for video quality. You can modify a gopro to take away the fisheye and that gets really cool.

also get a pole (hockey stick, ski pole, or a real product). my friend has a telescoping one that goes from like 1.5 ft to 6 or 7. It's mainly for stabalization (because the gopro is so small that every little motion of your hand will be picked up on video) but you can also get some cool and unique shots with a pole.

dont bother buying the pole that they sell its like 60 buck and you can just tape one of the sticky mounts to a hockey stick or something and it works just as well but you might want to use something better than tape if it really matters to you
