Best skiing in North Carolina?

I tried regionals but couldn't find a forum for Corlina, but I'm moving to Charlotte NC for work pretty soon from SLC. I know I won't be as good as I have it here in UT, but does any have a recommendation for the best mountain in north carolina to ski at? How about the best park? Is App any good?

liberty university's snowflex in lynchburg, va has a great park, and if you are willing to drive the distance, snowshoe, WV has some really nice parks. My home mountain is wintergreen, because i live less than 2 hours away from it.

App definitely has the best park in the area. The Boone area also has Sugar Mtn and Beech. I believe Beech is the biggest of the three, but also gets the most crowded. All three are around 2-2 1/2 hours from Charlotte, but check out Boone if you make it that way, it's a pretty cool town.

cataloochee, my friend made the drive every weekend for 2 seasons from unc charlotte to cataloochee, its only 2:45. The mountain is nice and they put out a decent jib park usually.

i livein georgia and ill be straight up honest...

cattalochee... its a straight mountain with a lift that goes all the way to the top.. the run is probably 125 to 175 yards long. it goes by pretty quick but you get what you expect. On the lower half they try and set up a few rails and maybe a little jump

Beech mountain - pretty big for NC standards... the only quad in NC and when they have a park its pretty on point.. the other year they had 2 25-30 ft jumps and a 45 -50 jump at the end of the line.. the runs are considerably longer than catallochee and semi steep.. for sure a blue in utah standards..maybe a black but barely..

App ski mountain- very small..very very small... if you ski park go here because they generally have the best set up in the south. they have 2 lifts and it takes longer to go up and come down.... the park is on point most of time because they strive to have it set up with rails and jumps.. but it is very tiny..

sugar mountain - this one is probably the largest in NC (beech is close to size or same) but for sure Sugar has the longest run.. not sure how long but from top to bottom it takes a minute and you feel like you are not in NC.. they generally dot have a big park set up other than a few rails and maybe a jump ( doubtful)

your best bet is checking out the North Carolina Gold Card... its 820 and gives you access to all ski resorts in North carolina.. yes its expensive but the all the resorts charge around 65 to 80 so it can work its self out if you ski like 10 days or so.. plus if you get a pass to one resort you WILL get bored of it if you are used to skiing in Utah...

Just don't go into this thinking you are getting some good skiing.. i mean its good but nothing compared to Utah.. hope this helped out.. let me know if you have any questions

no just some much no.... beech if your going to boone , cat if your not trying to drive to far or ober. 10 days of skiing is a sad sad season. try them all them pick where you get your pass to. and my home mtn is not even beech.. its spelled cataloochee, and it has 3 chairs and they say 30ish runs but its like 4. beech is also bigger then sugar, yet sugar is higher and does have a longer run that cuts across a few times. and iv never been able to go back up the hill faster then iv come down no matter where you are. i think i covered all the mistakes here

Sugar and Beech suck cock, Cataloochee shouldnt even be considered, App is the best for park BY FAR

A really good frequent flyer program...

Seriously, I might be living in Charleston SC in a year or so and you can bet your ass I'll be flying west every weekend.

Poach Hawksnest

I've had blower days at Beech as satisfying as the deepest day in Alta, Bird, Boat ,Whistler etc

Wolf Ridge is the #chillest mountain in the high country. Most interesting terrain too. They don't Terrain Park doe.
