Hey ppl....me and a mate are going on GAP next year and were wondering which places people thought were the best to ski at. So please, help my decision by suggesting some places and why you think that place is the best. Cheers...

I should probably whisper this for fear of being tracked down and killed by all the Americans on this site, but the French Alps have probably the most varied and and amazing skiing in the world. Their parks aren't up the standard of North America, but, off piste, back country, steeps are amazing and they have a very open policy when it comes to getting off piste. KInda go where you want.

Is it like a full gap year? Like... one whole year of skiing? Are you staying in one place or would you like to move around a little bit?

If you've got the $$$, then Whistler. Chamonix wouldn't be a bad choice either, you won't get much park though... I guess Utah wouldn't be bad, you've got places like Alta/Snowbird, Park City.

i'm guessin this is an after high school before uni gap year? i.e. like 19 years old? if so, despite its merits, probs give america a miss unless you're a teetotaler!

canada: the obvious whistler: its so popular for good reason..

less obvious: fernie- great snow, terrain, good park i think, cheaper, more friendly...

revelstoke- never been, but huge investment recently, great terrain methinks?

alps- snow getting worse, but terrain still unmatched. so many killer options. if you can't live without a good park, hit up laax, mayrhofen etc.

for a season, avoriaz is a good call, as is tignes/val d'isere.

to be honest, so many options, you gotta do some research, figure out what you want out of your season, then better suggestions can be given.
