I'm trying to figure out where to go to coollege, but it has to have an awesome ski area nearby, What are the best-- I'm looking for Big Mountain type skiing

nice onepiece

Don't move to Vancouver and go to UBC or SFU, or Capilano college or BCIT or anywhere else. There's no mountains here.

gunnison, right near Crested Butte, if you enjoy big mtn. i haven't been there in a couple seasons, but I hear that they are stepping it up with there park also. a whole lot of hippies though

maybe this is the most posted topic... in any case the answer is none. skiing and college dont mix.

try u of colorado. i heard it's all-around good for everything-- skiing, mountain biking, fun, etc. but (and don't bite my head off for the suggestion) but it might be wise to choose a college suited to your intellectual needs rather than just for skiing. unless of course you don't care about education, in which case go have a good time!

Colorado State University

Its a pretty good school and it also has a some kind of ski team I believe. It is also the #1 party school in the nation.

sorry if i don't want all the chicks to be married to some old dude

killermonkey.....you obviously read something wrong somewhere.....CSU is definitely NOT the biggest party school in the nation, nor has it ever claimed to be. CU claims it, but they are a only a bigger party school because they are a bigger school period (don't tell any of them that though because you might offend some yuppies). yeah the parties here in ft collins are off the hook but if they're bigger than 100 people they WILL get busted. go to florida state or arizona if you want rediculous parties. and CSU doesn't have a ski team, they have a small organization of students called the 'ski bums.' i've lived here for five years almost and have yet to go skiing with any of them. plus you are at least two hours from the nearest ski area (winter park - copper is 2 1/2 hrs) so unless you feel like going ''BC'' up cameron pass, which is still more than an hour plus hiking, skiing is kinda far away. good education for your money though.

sorry i went off but you were grossly misinformed

man on this site I think about 40 schools have been claimed as the '#1 party school in the country.' Every big public school has big parties. CU, UNR, UCD, WWU, UW, UU, all good schools close to great skiing

western state is right near crested butte, and CU is only like 1 to 1.5 hours away from most of the summit county resorts. vail is like 2 hrs away. im going to CU next year it should be sweet, and its sort of close to home so i can bring the laundry home on the weekends! its going to be sick!

Duff Man: Duff Man... says a lot of things! Oh, yeah!

go to BYU (Brigham Young Univ) because it is a gay MORMON school. you wont be partying or doing any chicks or anything standard at any good college so you would have plenty of tome to ski. Plus it is in utah

Western State is a good school....at least the Environmental Studies program anyway. That's probably because you are surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. Crested Butte is a 25 minute drive from school. The snow is kind of lacking here, but the backcountry is nice and the inbounds terrain at CB is second to none. And Crested Butte is cool town....if you like small towns with lots of boozing.

Duff Man: Duff Man... says a lot of things! Oh, yeah!

closest to uvm is mount snow i think, but there are like 10 within 45 minutes, and you can get a season pass to 6 of them for something like 350 i think

O yes, you can ski backcountry is syracuse ny

mt snow is closer to 3 hours from uvm. stowe, sugarbush, smuggler's notch, mad river glen, and jay peak range from 45 mins to 1.5 hours.

you will, i;ll make sure you have time to ski! hehe

Titanya: But Duff Man, you said if I slept with you I wouldn't have to touch the drink!

Duff Man: Duff Man... says a lot of things! Oh, yeah!

the colorado mountain college looks pretty ill, you can do hella skiing, and they actually have majors in ski resort managemnet and shit, and you have the choice to take less classes in the ski season and more in the off season...also they have other majors...but it looks tite

if it were easy it would be called snowboarding - K2 skis

Western State is a dang good choice, I went there for a semester and I got tons of skiing in. Even though CB didn't open until finals week, I went backcountry skiing a lot...Kebler Pass rules for building...short hike and endless powder. Adams State College in Alamosa, CO is alright. Wolf Creek is less than an hour away and it ALWAYS has the most snow in colorado...like for example, this year...Wolf Creek's base is 126'...the nearest other resort is like 80'

Look I looked at schools based on location to skiing. that was 5 years ago. I looked at every school in colorado, u of montana, NAU, UNR, U of U, wyoming, everything. I came to utah cause it was the best school if I wanted to ski, be around a city that isn't too big, close to an international airport, it is 3 hrs to moab which has this sickest camping, jackson, most colorado resorts, vegas, big sky, are all within 6 hrs. la is 10 tahoe is about 9 mammoth is 8 or 9. hell it is right in the heart of everything. and it has the best skiing anywhere. oh and have you seen that ALTA is building a park.

just go to the University of Utah.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON

not only does it have a half dozen mountains within an hour and a half, you have whistler at a mere four hour drive. plus we party it up hard.

^I am. SFU is, uh, odd. But good. Just don't expect the 'classic' university experience. It's different. Message me if you want info, I could write a book...

montana state is sick...you've got bridger 15 minutes away and big sky another 40. can't go wrong

cant expect everyone to see shit the way i see it, cant expect anyone to be dope the way i be it

Yeah man I go to u of I. It's a pretty happening school. But the skiing isn't very close. Silver mountain is about 2.5 hours away and schweitzer is like 3 and that's with good roads. That's why you got to hook up with cool cats like me who drive up every weekend. But yeah if you don't mind the drive it's a nice place to live. And schweitzer kicks ass. I've lived in Moscow my whole life and I really like it here for a small town and there is lots to do on campus. But I think your are overlooking at good place at MSU I think. I almost went there just because the skiing is soo close. Oh yeah and don't go to school in Canada for many reasons.
