Best Ski Rack

My girlfriend has a Yakima ski rack that's pretty cool. To remove the ski rack from the car you need to use a key to unlock the bars that keep the skis in place (as opposed to my Thule ski rack which can be removed simply by using a tool).
 
I have a Thule 602 Ascent 110 for mine.. I can fit pretty much anything in it.. from 3-4 pairs of skis and a couple snowboards to a couple mountain bikes. If your looking for something that is a little bit smaller (length) and wider go for the Yakima Rocketbox Pro 14, a similiar model to the one I have that is Yakima is the Rocketbox 16. Anything that is that big your looking at $450-600..
 
I've been using the Yakima Fatcat 6 rack on my vehicles for the past few years with good luck and no complaints.

The Fatcat6 says its 36 inches long and most others i find say 30. Is the fatcat actually fit more skis or does their hinge design just take up more room?

 
yes. its hard to describe but ill give it a shot. When you put skis in toward the back, on most ski racks there would be a lot of pressure in hinge area but the fatcat kind of lifts up and releases the pressure allowing it to close easier and put more skis on it.
