Blake Jorgenson.

You really need to get yourself some Freeskier, Powder and SBC Skier magazins and flip through those, preferably photo annuals. Google will also help you a lot once you get a few names, as most of these guys have websites.

You got any photo annuals lying around? those usually have interviews with the greats/ more pix then a normal issue

All the top names I can think of have been thrown out there already. Check out Cole Barash too, he's not quite a top gun yet but I really like his work.

Probably also want to check out snowboard photographers, as for a college research topic you're probably going to want to go a little broader anyway. Those would be Tim Zimmerman, Scott Serfas, Dean Blotto Gray, and Dano Pendygrasse to name a few.

I'm a photo major, so I have a HUGE list of photographers that I follow regularly, in pretty much all the action sports, and beyond. Send me a PM if you've got any questions/want to talk shop photo nerd style.

+1 I love his stuff. You beat me to it, I was gonna throw this one out there.

I'm also a fan of Mitchelfelder (the photos he took at that one Squaw shoot with the Skullcandy team were incredible!).

Who's the photographer who always shoots Jamie Pierre/Julien Carr/people shredding at Alta? I've always like his photos...

ahhhh but you've got fall line, which is pretty damn sick none the less, found it in a sketchy magazine store near me for like $15 haha....

Also, Freeskier has back issues in PDF form on their site too.
