Best ski experiences in the east?

Looking for some different ski experiences, not the basic resort ski. For example: Tuckerman ravine or burnt mountain cat skiing at sugarloaf. Mainly looking for cat skiing, Thanks guys!

Newfoundland has some pretty great backcountry skiing, and there is a cat skiing operation there that you can rouse sometimes. There is a hut at Southwest Gulch in Gros Morne National Park (UNESCO world heritage site) that is really great with easy touring access to some really fun terrain.

Also I haven't been yet, but the Chic Chocs on the Gaspe Peninsula of Quebec have well established cat skiing. In Canada your US$ will go farther too :)

The Adirondacks in New York have some of the best skiing on the east coast (if you're into long missions and a bit of bushwacking). The High Peaks wilderness gets a lot of snow fall and there are basically no crowds the entire winter. The majority of skiing options require a few miles of ski touring to access but the rewards are worth it. Make sure you have basic avalanche rescue gear and a good partner to go with since you are far from any sort of rescue.

Daks are sick. A bunch of my friends are touring there these days. I bootpacked and sled lapped a bunch of stuff as a kid. Adks are great.

Not sure if you like park skiing but carinthia Mt snow has a killer park

I grew up in central NY, skied throughout it and a bit through VT growing up.

One of the raddest (hometown) places that get a SHITLOAD of snow, is this little podunk farmtown mountain called Snow Ridge. Its due E 1hr from the center of lake Ontario, and when they get Lake Effect, they get it good. There's a handful of ravines and gulfs on their property that make for some short lived, but lively and challenging steeps or some pillow poppin', and best of all, (rarely) a lift line, and you can get 6 runs up and down per hour, so you'll get your $35 worth. New owners are dope and have the capability to build a very ride-able park once up and running for the season.

The Adirondack park has countless skiable high peaks, fire tower mountains, ravines and beyond. LOTS to chose from if you're a hiker/skinner. Otherwise, get to Whiteface on a day the slides are open (
