Best Skateboarding Camera....?

There is no best camera. Go to skateperception.com and look around. It's a website for skate videography and photography.

Horrible suggestion. Do you realize that anyone, even someone that uses a gl2 or vk2100 would absolutely shit themselves if they got a red camera? Shit is not easy to use at all let alone even practical for an amateur filmer...

vx1k and 2k are the most used. or at least were. now people are stepping it up to hd though

Those would be terrible cameras for filming skating. 50% of the shots are follows cams and you definitely don't want to be lugging those around all day.

wow so youve obviously never filmed skating, and apparently never been able to compare a poorly filmed skate video and a well filmed video...

It a way, i feel this is how most am skate filming is, redic fish eye with shitty viggnette, always a follow cam or some kind of redic close show and the zoom-pan seems to be very popular is most sports and it pisses me off usually when i see it. But the truth is most am skiing/snowboarding filming is similar, usually a follow cam or some standard tripod shot. But i dunno i kind of agree with you but kind of disagree too.

I agree with the VX.... but go with your own style, dont get a death or any fisheye, a fisheye nice sometimes...but a death/fisheye is way to common in skate film, go with your own style.

You pretty much summed up what everyone who knows nothing about filming does. It's hard to film skateboarding well and takes skill. If I told you to film me skateboarding I know you'd do a shitty job so please don't be a hypocrite

how did you do the mask in the first shot so its in the car mirror? (i used vegas as well)

wow congrats you know how to use a dolly. that was a long lens shot like in any movie. fisheyes make since for skate photography, its the easiest way to film lines and it makes shit look bigger than it really is. i have never seen unprofessional filming in a pro skate movie. sure it might not look like a ski movie but the budget is different too. just because you think your hot shit with a camera (i really dont care if you are or arent those 2 shots dont really mean anything) doesnt mean you need to hate on it. the kid asked for a camera suggestion, not for you to tell him that skate filming is retarded.

and your gonna tell me you hate this intro to fully flared because ty evans isnt in it?

im gonna go back to the unprofessional filming. if every pro film is using it, how is it unprofessional. fisheyes are the simplest way to film lines. they look fine, you can see fine.

i agree that there could be some more variety, but i dont think the fisheye is the worst thing to happen to skateboarding. the long lens/tripod is already used , it has been for years. cranes and dollies, like anything else, can be overused. they are cool but they shouldnt be used TOO much. and cablecams.... idk how that would work in skateboarding, most spots just wouldnt facilitate it.

i highly recommend purchasing the sony sk8rcam300. it doesn't use batteries; it runs on mountain dew and the sheer fact that skateboarding is not a crime!

if its only one clip use event pant/crop

if its a ton of clips (like what i did) use track motion

and put a feathered border on

and to make it look like a projection use bump map in videofx
