Best resort in Salt Lake City?

Deer Valley - plenty of intermediate terrain for you and your family plus world class slope side lodging and dining

Altabird.

More snow early better terrain. The others are good but leave you hoping for more and are akin to skiing in Summit County CO.

Mind you all my Utah trips were Christmas time when I was going there because it was Utah and virtually a lock to be fully open with some pow. (Never got snaked over 3-4 trips it was open.) Skiied all the other resorts in UT one day each none were really worth the drive just do LCC and stay at the bottom of the mountain there. Canyons best of the other ones but that and PC are pretty similar and nowhere near as good as Bird and Alta. We always got that Courtyard By Marriott.

Depends on what you want.

PC/Canyons - Best parks

Brighton - Mix of park with terrain

Solitude - Low key with terrain

Alta/Snowbird - Best terrain and best snow

I took a trip out last February(yes, when the snow sucked), but we went to almost all of the resorts in the area and I'd agree with everything this guy has here. Plus I'd add Canyons/Park City has some good areas if you're ready to hike a little. Also Deer Valley is a great option if you are going with you family. The on-mountain facilities are A++ as is the food.

There be a mountain with the initials PM which shall not be named bout 2 hours north of salt lake. Legend says a man named Gus drives a school bus and gets you steep and deep turns until your legs bust.
