this was on some kids nex page. what do you guys think of it?

used to be at war against snowboarders and wanted us out of their

resorts. As snowboarding grew, certain ski company’s got interested in

it for the money. Nowadays it seems like some skiers actually want to be like snowboarders.

I will say this, though-snowboarding pretty much made skiing cool again.

Freeskiing is still pretty new right now, but how many more years would

it have taken ski companies to make twin-tip ski if snowboarding didn’t

exist? How many years would have taken for parks and pipes to get built

if snowboarding didn’t exist? Yeah, snowboarding is saving skiing, ‘cause now there is more to it than down hill and moguls."
 
lately ive become addicted to nex i really dont like it

and yeah i guess hes kinda right

but hes making is sound like we owe whatever areas we progressed to to snowboarding

im sure weve done some things without a snowboarding influence

on the other hand...to get to that point we probably needed an influence from it for the point before it

wow this was confusing to type
 
Without skiing snowboarding probably wouldn't exist. Resorts would not be developed like they are now, and we know that snowboards are excelent for getting around for alpine touring and other non-lift access venues, right?

It is a cycle in which one builds on the other. Eventually we will all have rocket propelled shopping carts for powder riding. Think of all the beer you could take with you.
 
we can trace the lineage of freesking like this:

-if it wasnt for snowboarding, we wouldnt realize we were over moguls/racing because there wouldnt have been demand for parks back in like '94

-if it wasnt for skateboarding, there wouldnt be a desire to skate on snow

-if it wasnt for surfing there would be a desire to surf on concrete away from the ocean

so yes, we owe a lot to snowboarding, and snowboarding does owe something to skiing, but basically we all come from the same roots and ideals, a desire to not be judged and pidgeon holed and a desire to use our equipment however the fuck we want. i see freesking as more the same sport as snowboarding than mogul skiing/racing. thats another reason i get pissed when i hear racers say that "bode is better than tanner(or whoever else) because honestly its not even the same sport

 
are you arguing that? i completely agree. i dont think we should be oweing snowboarders much, but i think we should look to them for more inspiration than we do now.

and it wasnt the kid who wrote that, thats in the new Transworld Snowboarding. question a pro page.
