Marquette Mountain gets some good storms, but what pisses me off is that they GROOM IT right away. I'm talking the whole run. I could see one pass for people who cant ski but they go too far.

Sorry about that. Marquettes good. after a good snowstorm you can always find powder somewhere for a few days even.

skis are too damn expensive to invest in, especially if you intend to destroy them.

this is how it is, the only pow you're gonna get is at the sickest place i've EVER skied at in the midwest, Mount Bohemia. It's in the Keewenaw region of the UP, right where it sticks into lake superior. A couple years back (2 or 3) I skied there opening day in waist deep pow lighter than anything i've ever gotten anywhere else (rockies included). It's a little ghetto, they have yourts for the base lodge, and there are two chairs, but it is hard core. they don't groom, and they don't allow beginners, so it's basically the Jackson Hole of the midwest. There are cliffs and chutes on the backside, and sick trees on the front. the only problem is that it's in the middle of shit nowhere, but it's worth the haul. check out mountbohemia.com

yeah Bohemia is fucking awesome. i went 2 years ago and there was waist-deep EVERYWHERE. i think they only have 1 or maybe 2 groomed runs. there are actually some cliffs and such to have fun on, and it's nice to build kickers, tons of pow

I live in Houghton, the 'gateway to the keewenaw', about 30 minutes from Bohemia. The one two punch of Ripley and bohemia calls for some good powder skiing. The last 4 or 5 days I have been skiing in nothing but thigh to stomach deep powder at Ripley. The hill manager does a great job of only grooming some parts of the hill. There is a lot of off pist skiing to do, some hiking...plenty of snow for everyone.

I would suggest a day at each. Beware, you're likely to ruine a pair of skis at bohemia...the guy who runs the place is a freakin retard.

yes i will pretend u didnt ask where good pow is here
