Best pow in the country?

here, in alaska. cordova, or valdez, or the chugach, or pretty much any mountain range skiable here.

yeah id say alaska but id u wanted to stay like the lower 48 i would say Utah they have amazing snow and great terrain.

 
Alta/ Snowbird backcountry is pretty good but the best I've skied in the lower 48 is in Silverton CO and Red Mtn. Pass (Near Silverton) When I was there they had recieved 8 feet in 11 days, so sick. The article about the trip should be running in one of the next 2 issues of Freeskier

 
red mountain is really sick, i skied there once for 10 bucks 2 years ago during spring break and it was some of the best skiing i've ever done.

not sure bout the states but yeah interior bc. the kootneys, sun peaks and big white. they are rad.

ya but that shits all heavy, id defiantley say alaska but not many people have access to heli skiing. So for the best snow on average defiantley utah its scientifically proven to be lighter on average then other states(cause of the lake and desert). Although jackson and parts of colorado are nice too.

Basically you juts have to be in the right place at the right time, any time it snows more than 2 feet is good powder.

WOLF CREEK COLORADO, gets the most snow in colorado. I was there last year when they had received 52' in two days. It was epic. In 1978-79, Wolf Creek set the record for snowfall in Colorado. 840' in one year. I made turns in snow that went to my chest, it was awesome.

In the states it's definately Alta/Snowbird because it's sooo dry and they get a ton of it, followed closely by targhee probably

I heard Bromley, VT gets the most fresh out of any mountain in the country. But you know that Duncan. Why would you even start a thread about it? It's a given.

Get some sour cream and onion chips with some dip, man, some beef jerky, some peanut butter. Get some Haagen-Das ice cream bars, a whole lot, make sure chocolate, gotta have chocolate, man. Some popcorn, red popcorn, graham crackers, graham crackers with marshmallows, the little marshmallows and little chocolate bars and we can make smores, man. Also, celery, grape jelly, Captain Crunch with the little Crunch berries, pizzas. We need two big pizzas, man, everything on 'em, with water, whole lotta water, and Funyons

Great pow is a fxn of altitude and low moisture content. Low moisture comes

from traveling over a few mtn ranges to interior mtns. In north ameica that =

the rockies. Other factors are terrain and lift lines. I'm in western CO. You got

your traffic lite mentality at Vile stacked up like cord wood in the maze. I've hit

unlimited pow late afternoon at Sunlight. Lastly where do you have the most

stashes. I can usually hit great pow pow day after a storm at Snowmass

especially hiking out the backcountry gates. Remember: There are no friends

on powder daze!!!!!

 
when you think about though, AK sucks hairy ass. Its too remote. Flying to BC is cheaper. There as many or more heliskiing companies in BC, plus the big thing AK lacks is world class resorts. AK: zero, BC: like 10. The only reasonably populated and accessible areas of AK are along the coast, making most of the state irrelavent. BC has cities and roads and trains and airports all through it, plus they got just as much snow. So no, the states, including AK can do the 100 yard dash down a 50 foot hall.
