Best place to stay in Salt Lake City in the summer

I have a trip coming up to mtn bike in Moab. I will have a full day and a half to ride Salt Lake City before I fly west for the second part of my trip. What is the best hotel or area to stay that is near good riding but has things to do for the wife. Good views always help if recommending specific hotels.

Note, I have never been to northern Utah, I usually fly into Denver on my trips to Moab, so I know nothing about the area other than there is a lake, mountains and an airport.

Hmmm... it's pretty much the run of the mill hotels in downtown in SLC. The further east you move the closer you get to the mountains and the mountain biking. There are lots of bike trails in the Wasatch Foothills but a common recommendation would be the Bonneville Shoreline Trail to Bobsled.

There is also a train (TRAX) that can take you from downtown to the foothills really quick and directly access the trails without a car.

If you want to expand your horizons and ride out of the SLC area there are also lots of options. "Go Ride" and "Guthries" are two great bike shops that could point you in the direction of riding if you are having any trouble finding it.

Cheers

go to park city. even if it's just for the day. drop the wife on main street. jump on the abundance of awesome trails. meet up for food and drinks at the end of the ride.

Yeah I was going to say this. Park City is only 30-40 minutes from the airport and there's some fun trails here. Hotels should be decently priced this time of year.
