Summit CO is also pretty good. Backcountry is significantly worse than cali / Oregon / Whistler due to avy risk but else it’s fire.

I can’t speak about living and prices now but Tahoe was pretty epic. Literally surrounded by resorts with anything from big mountain to park. It was really fun. Plus you’re 3 hours from mammoth.

Being in the thick of it all the time - my progression was unbelievable. Unfortunately, aside from a little stint living on hill in Australia, progression has kinda stagnated because I’m not in the middle of it :/

Driving really does add up and I found myself a lot more likely to jump in the far for a 25 minute ride to resort than a 45 minute.

Pick your favorite mountain town. When you live near a hill and local culture revolves around winter sports, you'll get better super quickly. It's all about skiing as much as possible

Ideally I’ll end up at either Portland, Reno, Seattle or St. Paul. Living in Montana has taught me that I am NOT a country boy so a city near good skiing would be perfect for me.

There's a lot of reasons why you see all the big name pros in the US living in Salt Lake City and riding at Park City. Progression is not all about facilities, but also about who's around you and how high the skill level is. That will help you progress much more than riding a perfect park everyday.

That PC culture is so conducive to amazing park skiers. So much money and resources to develop talent. And so much competitive talent to push skiers to get better

I see something similar for big mountain freeriders and Squaw. Lots of pros grew up on that freeride team and continue to live in Tahoe.

Yeah for sure. This will be my first season outside of the Midwest, and I'm hyped to be living in SLC. Dropped the cash to get Brighton/Icon and Epic pass to get the full experience. It's going to be wild seeing all these industry dudes al the time. I'm used to skiing with little timmy and johny from nowheresville WI/MN.

How many flat light and/or rainy days can you deal with? If it's about 60+ days a season... then Whistler is for you.

Personally I'd have to say oregon/washington/whistler. Mammoth would be cool too. Living in new england and spending time elsewhere reminds me that I couldn't live landlocked in the summer. I'd live in CO and have a second home in Massachusetts or Maine if I had the dough.

Brighton will be fine by then. And the canyon. Everyone is coming down at that time.

Woodward has only been overflowing their lot a few weekends last year. They were letting road parking happen when it was busy. But that was only a few days
