Best area to live in for skiing on opinions, thought, or experience.

Ive heard theres places in Cali where you can drive 2 hours south and go on a beach, or drive 2 hours north and go skiing. idk if thats true though

well in maine i live right on the beach and i surf a few times a week or i can hop in my car and drive for an hour and a half and be at Sunday River. soo that thing about the beach isnt that convincing

living in colorado is pretty good. but i would imagine california has the best situation with the beach and mountains

The beaches in California have the some damn cold water. If you don't mind wearing a wetsuit, surfing isn't bad around here. Skiing is about 4 hours away from San Francisco.

Hood River OR is pretty sick 5 minutes from best kiteboarding and windsurfing in the world 5 minutes from really great Mountain biking and 40 minutes from mt hood meadows and 50 minutes from timberline

in one day you can mountain bike, windsurf and ski. try beating that

there are places in cali where you can do that. i live in the central valley and 2 hours away to the west i have the bech and 2 hours east i have tahoe. but if you want the best snow probably colorado or utah.

California is cool but the skiing isnt like as amazing as Utah or Colorado. But it is true, if you live in sacramento you can go surfing which is about an hour and half away and tahoe is like 2 hours away depending on traffic.

Kalamazoo, not only do you get to live in quite possibly the coolest named city ever, you get to ski epic pow probably once every 20 years or so. Southwest Michigan kills it.

yeah its kinda chilly

that was a few days ago so even tho the water is cold, its still worth it

summit county colorado....30 mins top from some of the best ski resorts in the country.... and you can get most of them all on one pass.....for sure the best...breck and keystone have top 5 parks in the country too and there only 15 min. drive away from each other.

i live 5 minutes from there. sick beach. sick area with the whole hour and 45 minutes drive to the river as well i agree with you on that one.

wow the surf in maine actually doesnt look that bad haha. I would say Utah or baker for the best snow. but never been to baker so idk

I would say Park City, UT or Bozeman, MT would be the best places to live as far as ski towns...

But back to the California thing. I live about an hour from the beach and 2.5 hours from the mountains. Lets just say its pretty fucking sick sometimes. There was one day where I actually stayed the night at a friends in Capitola, Ca (near Santa Cruz), woke up at 10 or 11.. surfed until 2 or 3.. drove 4 hours to Tahoe, and caught the night ski park at Boreal from 6-9 for 10 bucks on a Friday evening... then spent the next 4 days skiing at Alpine Meadows and Sugar Bowl before coming back home to start the spring semester... cant hate on that shit.

California water is NOT cold. try swimming/surfing in Newfoundland or Maine. I went swimming at Muir beach in California once and it was like a bathtub

iwould have to say tahoe. you can live in truckee and get decent jobs that dont have to be based on the ski resorts plenty of industry in trukee and your from 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours away from, Squaw, northstar, boreal, alpine meadows, Mt rose, Heavenly, Sierra, and my favorite place in the country Kirkwood. not to mention your only about 3.5 hours from mammoth as well. and unlike SLC you can actually drink real beer, oh yeah and you can gamble too.

that looks sooo sick and its really close to the city, i bet it gets packed in the winter from people from the city

well i live over on ram island farm, so to surf i jsut paddle across the river. On good days i like scarborough better but its just easier to go to higgins

I would say if it was JUST for skiing, Summit County Colorado. You can ski Vail, Beaver Creek, Breck, Keystone, A-Basin, and Loveland. Oh and Copper Mountain and Ski Cooper. There all with-in like 30 miles apart. Now for JUST skiing, thats SICK!! Thats where I live!! Then you can take a weekend trip to like Aspen, Monarch, Wolf Creek....etc. Thats just my two cents.

baker is about an hour/hour and half from bellingham, which is like 25-30 mins from the border. its right on the water, pretty cool college town (WWU)
