i'm not sure of an area in WA that is a 'short drive' (less than 20 miles) from a ski town.

the only real ski town is Leavenworth...bellingham to a lesser extent only because hipsters think skiing is too mainstream.

government camp in oregon near hood is gonna be your best bet. although finding a place to live this time of year is gonna be tough

leavenworth is by no means a ski town, wenatchee is just as much a "ski town" if you are going based only on driving distance to the mountain

oh no no no then i'd say Skykomish is a ski town.

the number of stevens employees who live there, the atmosphere of leavenworth (christmas lights, snow on the ground, a few ski shops), and a focus on winter sports is what makes Leavenworth a ski town...imho

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. Mission Ridge is 20 minutes from Wenatchee. However, there isn't much here in Wenatchee. I'm a recent WSU grad and there is no work in my field here. I'm not a big fan of it, but a lot of people like it here.

the towns closest to good mountains are glacier at baker, greenwater at crystal and index at stevens. but ther all extremely tiny and nowhere near anything else but the ski mountains.

based off my memory arpund a 30 minute drive. someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure its around that more or less

Yeah, I live in Enumclaw and it's like 25 minutes from Enumclaw and 30 from Crystal. Aboout halfway in between. Enumclaw is only like 45 min from Crystal, so it's sort of a ski town I guess.
